Thanks for those photos.
I think you can do homebuilt in any state... I did that for my 1989 M116A2, it's just something I want to avoid on the M1061A1 if I can... The emtpy weight of this trailer might screw me unless I get it as a HV.
I have a Historical Vehicle plate on my M100.
Nothing in the vehicle codes, paperwork or DMV system prevent you from registering a historical trailer as a Historical Vehicle.
I figure about $288 will cover all the expenses on my end.
Will this be a engine and tranny mounted together, or seperately? If it's together it'd be much easier to transport.
I think the engine if complete and alone weights 350 easy, and a transmission is another 150 to 250.
THE PART YOU NEED:

I don't know if they'll sell a single part to a civilian, but I just shot them an email about the data plates that I need.
I have an M1061A1 (or so I think) that's missing it's dataplates.
One of the rims was dated 83, and that means my trailer is over 25 years old and qualifies for HISTORICAL VEHICLE plates, which would just be great.
If anyone knows where I can get a set of new or used data plates, it would...
Stretch, that's the closest one I've seen yet, but no cigar. That has the spare tire latch thingie in the rear... lots of angled steel, a much longer front, and a huge block below the lunette.
My camera and all me memory cards were stolen a few weeks ago, But I'll take some more photos soon...
Mine just doesn't look like any others that I've seen. But according to TM 9-2330-376-14&P I'm prett sure it has to be the M1061A1 five ton trailer.

Being in the Georgia area you guys are lucky because I'm always seeing large MVs and trailers like M172s getting surplused or re-sold down there. I found an M172 in VA that I could have got, but then I found out Ray Patton isn't shipping MVs anymore, so getting this shipped by a commercial...
I'm still getting the thing road-worthy. Right now it still has two wheels off, and two broken landing legs. Infact I don't know if it's a M979, M1061, or M1061A1.
I got myself an M979 series trailer, so I don't know if it's the 5 ton or 7.5 ton version...
And I've got myself a 5 Ton tractor... I'm starting to clean out my garage to make room for WMO and WVO refining in the corner. Had to dust off my old battlebot.
Sup Ryan!? :-D
I'm hauling an empty 3/4 Ton M116A2 from Livermore, CA up to Cheyenne Wells, Colorado in the last week of April.
Can tie down and deliver just about anything smaller than a jeep to anyone along the route of I-80 up and over through Wyoming, or I-80 to Utah, then South on I-15, and East again...
-Drivers Seat and back canvas, how is it?
-Starter, I want it!
-Rear View Mirrors, more photos please
-Electrical jumper between batts
-Brake, Clutch pedal rubber
-Pioneer Tools, are they ong gone?
reitenger, your PMs are full...
I have two M38A1 engines sitting around and doing nothing for me...
How much "engine" do you need? I'll be going to the Cheyenne Wells Colorado Machinegun shoot in late April/Early May.
