Sounds like a dead short somewhere, or a bad switch. Check your sealed beam plugs. They heat up and have been known to crack and lose the plastic insulation . Also that stock setup is too much for the stock switch assembly. LMC and others sell an upgraded heavy duty front light harness with...
I think they require the old style glass tube with wire conducter inside fuse . I used this type of fuse block in my 1028. http://www.westmarine.com/blue-sea-systems--st-blade-fuse-blocks--P009_275_002_501. It uses modern spade type fuses. Easy install with cover to keep water out. I mounted the...
My temp and oil gauges are VDO brand . The temp gauge is your standard fittings on the block with copper wire to the gauge. The oil gauge is electric via a sending unit. I also don't like the idea of hot oil running through the cab . They work just fine .
As requested, pics of my Tiny Tach installation. The TinyTach transducer attaches to # 1 injector line . It is powered up at the fuse box under the dash to an accessory ignition slot. The digital display I mounted left of the steering column on the dash with two sheetmetal screws. VERY simple...
Tiny Tach or some other way to monitor RPM's in my opinion is one of the most important upgrades for the 6.2 engine . I installed a Tiny Tach and never looked back. Trying to monitor RPMs by sound is a crap shoot to say the least , and if you want your engine to last, keep the revs below 2400 ...
Nice looking rig ! Usually a fire service rig is in decent shape . I would use a dark gray color primer to help with coverage before your final color coat otherwise you'll use more of that 383 to cover the red.Welcome to the OD fever.[thumbzup]
I like it! Poor mans Dyno. I don't know what I'm going to do when my 6.2 goes bang. It runs good but it is a labor of love. I've got so much time and money into it that it is hard to let her go. I just bought a 2001 Ram Turbo Cummings 4x4 with a NV 5600 and 410's . The power band is awesome ...
Nope, always had good power uphill . I've got a Ram Turbo Diesel so I have experienced real diesel power. This 6.2 had spunk, now it is a dog on a grade.
My 1028 CUCV has always run strong for a 6.2 . However lately I've noticed a gradual loss of power going up steep grades . I've installed new injectors and changed my spin on stanadyne fuel filter. Runs great on the flat but dogs out on a grade. Motor was a replacement in ' 09 at Fort Sill. I...
I run GM stock 70's era 16.5 rims x 8 1/4 wide with Goodyear 37" surplus radial MT's. They are balanced with 1 - 8 oz. bag of equal in the tire. They are also called balancing beads. No wobble, no vibration and this is my 2nd set of these tires balanced this way . Any tire shop that does big...
How about tires out of balance? What method did you use to balance your 37's ? Mine are balanced with beads , no weights on the rim. Pretty smooth ride for a 1 ton.
Check your hard lines . Mine cracked at the firewall from rubbing and I could not see it but had to feel the crack. This resulted in same shifting that you describe.
