Always replace leaf spring U-bolts. They stretch to fit and can fail if reused. The nuts are one use only also. NAPA carries a good selection but I have run into a few that I couldn't find. For the oddball large one for my front D60 I went to these guys and they got me fixed up very well...

Agreed. The "Loc" positions on the transfer case shifter lock the center differential that splits torque between the front and rear axles. Leave it unlocked on hard surfaces to prevent driveline binding and breakage. Off road shift to Loc and it will act like a part time 4WD truck when it's in...

Running a transfer case backward can be done, but not for long. The torque on the output being used as an input tends to split the case. It's been hashed and re-hashed on Pirate a number of times.

It would be easier to put higher gears in the axles and use a doubler transfer case to get off road gears. There is no way to use two transfer cases to do what you want to do. You could use an old "Brownie Box" but these are rare and you would have to swap to a manual transmission. There is...
