Cool pics, thanks for posting! How in the world do you get in and out of that thing? The chain drive is certainly very odd and I wonder what the reason for choosing that type of drivetrain? Also, that's a pretty odd place to find a Georgia license plate, lol.
Breaking a cable is always an issue. I've seen brand new cable fail even with sheer pin on the winch drive. It's up to the individual, but I know for a fact that I am not going to use one, or allow anyone to use one near me or on my vehicles. Anything that puts you in line with the cable is...
RE: Griphoist hand winch - Tirfor Ever used one, how safe
Hmmm, I'm not sure I like those any more than the traditional "come-a-long". Anything that puts me in line with the cable during operation is a very bad thing in my opinion. I also do not like the way it grips the cable. I think...
RE: Re: RE: Hey Rambo is on....
There is a nice boxed set of the Rambo movies out now on DVD. Teh new one wasn't that bad and reminded me of First Blood as it wasn't completely over the top.
I personally prefer the look, cargo capacity and originality of the normal Deuce. I would also swap to single tires due to the Deuce not really having that much ground pressure when empty. But if I had the time and money, I'd probably have a bobbed Deuce around also, but it would not be my...
Computer case fans come in a variety of sizes. I have seen some as small as 1.5" in diameter and some as large as 200mm. Mine are 120mm, which are good sized but would be overkill in a box that small. Be aware that if you put a fan in one end, you will need vents in the other end to pull the...
I think it's important to note that the CUCVs don't have a fording kit like most MVs that I am aware of so there is no easy "put these parts on" answer. The last of the 1 1/4 ton trucks with a fording kit was the M715, but it was considered a "tactical truck". You can "waterproof" a normal...
RE: Guess where many tanks & APC
Is it really necessary to post these sort of things multiple times? We all read the whole forum and most use the front page to read the latest threads, so it gets a little annoying reading the same things in multiple posts. Please post once in the most...
Agreed, most of today's head units have high power amplifiers and generate a lot of heat. Being sealed in that can is not going to make it last very long. I'd consider putting in a small 12V fan in the bottom of the case, vented to the outside air. You can use PC case fans, they work pretty well.
Don't even mess with the Haynes manuals at Advance. They are horribly wrong on numerous points. The TMs are here on SS for the M880 series that you can download for free. Also, just about anything you could ever need to know about D or W series trucks can be found over at RamchargerCentral...
Agreed, some time ago we had a member who had aIFA-W50 here in the US with a US military truck bed on it. Nice looking truck overall but I bet parts are a hassle.
I would have to politely disagree with this statement. As I mentioned before, only the '75-'81 Dodge models use that bearing design. The '74 and older models had normal, and actually quite over sized cone bearings that required only the usual repacking every 12-15k miles. Ignore the unit...
Ha! Appears I have been misinformed. I always thought that explaination left a little to be desired since all of those panels are the same size and there is only one per side instead of the whole vehicle being covered. Learn somethign new everyday...
Hey now. They are good trucks, but they are fulltime 4WD and have a few issues in common with the civilian fulltime 4WD Dodge trucks from 1975-81. Rust is always an issue with these trucks as well as the unit bearing front hub design. Some people swear by the unit bearing, but most swear at...
