How would a Ford 300 cubic inch inline 6 work for an engine swap in an M715? My dad had a 300 in his pickup and it was a great engine. It had lots of torque and unless you were towing something huge, was more than adequate.
I work a lot with temperature in my calibration lab. Did you know that 40 degrees below zero is the only temperature where Celsius and Fahrenheit readings are the same?
That was the original reason for the upper and lower mounting positions. It also seems that at some point, I'm guessing about 1970, they just started using the upper position only, whether or not the truck had a winch.
An old Guiberson Diesel tank engine is also very effective at smoking out the neighbors (I'm kidding, of course).
The upside is you would have no mosquitos for a week. :-)
I was referring to flying chains, straps and cables. But, isn't first gear in the transmission stronger than reverse? I've always thought so, but I'm not a transmission expert.
The right turn indicator staying on probably means one of your turn bulbs is burned out or not making good contact in the socket. Turn the right blinker on and look at the front and rear of the truck to find the bad bulb.
Fifth low is great on hills and here's why. If you're in 5th low and have to drop a gear because the hill gets steeper, the drop between 5th low and 4th low is smaller than the drop between 3rd high and 2nd high. This means you can keep the engine RPM's higher for more power and go up the hill...
I agree with Armada. As you go up a hill, as soon as you drop to 50 MPH, shift into second. You might be able to go farther up the hill before you have to shift into first gear. You can go up this hill at 25 MPH in first gear if needed.
I like the invitation for "out of the box thinking" here.
It would be great if we could somehow make a more "newb friendly" search function. This would not only help the newbs, but also us Baby Boomers (and older) who didn't get computer experience as kids.
