That couldn't be more true and is probably the funniest thing I've sen in a while. I'm going to put that in my sig. Maybe with your permission, Mike, I should get that made into a decal to put on the back window of the Ramcharger, lol.
Agreed, an assortment of bungy cords is a good idea when dealing with chains. I don't put much faith in the little rubber bands that are sold for use with chains. I've had a lot of them break but luckily I was able to stop and check them before the chain came loose and ripped up some...
RE: Pictures of the M5 I am working on
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the part pictured that you are looking for is the actual coil spring part of the suspension. It's a flat metal coil spring similar in design to what was used on other tracked vehicles of the era.

A classic case of "A Fool And His Money Are Soon Parted". I love to see this sort of thing especially when there is no logical reason to go through the mud. There was obviously ways around it. I also love recovery jobs but I would have...
Just weld the nuts. It's what the military would have done, unless they were real lazy and just put a loose nut on it. I wouldn't worry too much about duplicating the factory look unless you are going for a "hot off the assembly line" restoration. K.I.S.S. Your nerves will thank you for it, lol.
I think you would be better off with the stock Deuce winch. If you look at the cost of a used winch kit vs. a new electric, you are getting a lot more for your money with the PTO winch. Plus you never have to worry about killing the batteries, alternator, or the winch motor overheating...
I've seen some nice homemade HMMWVs before but that thing is retarded looking. It amazes me that someone is willing to do all the sheetmetal work but refuses to do anything about the wheelbase being too long, lol.
Is it actually rebuilt? Seems sort of odd that where the differential and housing meet and the nuts are all covered in paint and yet the surface where the drive shaft attaches has had the paint worn off.
Looks like something out of Junkyard Wars. It is an interesting drive system and I was pretty impressed by the video of the thing knocking down trees. I would not have thought it would get that kind of traction. For some reason this kinda makes me think of the Ripsaw vehicle...
Ok, after digging, I guess it's not technically illegal. I always assumed it was since DMV and the State Police always say you "should" put them in the back seat and "should not" put them in the front. It's sometimes had to decipher what is law and what is a suggestion when you see it in print...
I forgot about having to use the spacers even though that is what I plan to do on my Ramcharger. I guess the use of the spacer makes the hub-centric thing a moot point, lol.
As I've said before, M1075, those look real nice on your trucks! Do you run the runflat insert or a pipe insert to take...
Might want to check the local laws as far as putting a child seat in the front. I'm pretty sure it is illegal to put a child seat in the front in Virginia now.
90% of the trucks made support the weight on the studs, not the hub. Most FWD vehicles made are hub-centric, but trucks , especially older ones, typically are not. Part of the reason for 8 lugs is for the added support.
Craftsman is a mixed bag to me. They aren't near the quality they used to be and for people like me, it's a horrible pain to get them replaced. I used to have to drive 60 miles to the nearest Sears store only to be told that they didn't have a replacement in stock and would have to order it...
Stanley Proto does make Mac but I have not noticed anything similar in their designs other than general similarities. Proto is not cheap by any means and are great quality but because of the cost, they are overkill for my uses. I use Mac and like them as a cheaper alternative to Proto and...
