Numerous first timer "pre-buy" questions, can I get some help?

You should size based on the load, If you dont get these things to run around 50 to 80% rated load they will start wetstacking (buildup of unburnt fuel gunk in the exhaust, and eventually the head) which can be cleaned out by some good heavy loaded running. The ones I selected were more based...

Numerous first timer "pre-buy" questions, can I get some help?

greetings and welcome to the fun 1. not sure tbh 2 somethings missing it can be as simple as a battery or larger, you have to look close at the pics 3 load dependant, for these sizes id say no more than 1 gallon per hour but dont quote me 4 anything can be fixed with enough money and...

Slave plug for MEP genset - cost effective options(?)

Guy beat me to it... quick and easy test, turn on the panel lights and see if they go out when the batteries are disconnected. Long term I would be interested in the DC voltage.

    Replaced my 803 batteries

Noalox works great, only problem is 1 drop of it is: A. enough to coat a full grown elephant B. Is attracted to a clean shirt and C cant be cleaned off with anything less than lava soap and an SOS pad. Its like anitseize had a one night stand with napalm.

    Replaced my 803 batteries

Doesnt have to be salt water, moisture in general can start the reaction. Another concern (and more likely cause of battery corrosion) is Electrolytic Corrosion. But why split hairs

External tank / aux pickup for 2" NPT?

I made something for the 6 gallon cans I have. I basically have an an to npt adapter in a bushing, then i threaded a fitting to the internal diameter with a dip tube. Took some slight machining and a weld

MEP 805B wired to split 400amp panels

Transformer is a separately derived source and the neutral x0 must be bonded to ground. I believe the nec also requires a ground rod as well. I dont think the generator contactor counts as a disconnecting means as described in the nec definitions

    Main power indicator

Haha. My across the street neighbors are on a different circuit and they aren't shy about showing it. It's all fair though because when the whole neighborhood is out my house is lit up like a frigging Christmas tree.

MEP 805B wired to split 400amp panels

Winding primary/winding seccondary=voltage primary/ voltage secondary= current secondary/current primary A 3 phase transformer is just 3 single phase transformers in the same case. If you lower the primary voltage the secondary voltage will drop by the winding ratio. Some transformers are...

MEP 805B wired to split 400amp panels

split between 2 panels, the risk of imbalance damage is minimal, the shared leg has a risk of overload. If fuel efficiency isn't a huge concern you can always use a heater to help balance. For example, Panel 1 is wired to AB panel 2 is wired to BC and the heater dummy load is wired to CA

MEP 805B wired to split 400amp panels

balanced is more efficient, you can cause head damage by running 2 legs at their maximum and nothing on the 3rd leg. The short and skinny, Balance as close as you can but dont go nuts over a few amps.
