Just an update on Easter Find
She is now pulling her weight around the LZ. After giving some vets a ride in the 4th of July parade, she went to work pulling 6 tons of coal- a ton at a time of course.
The advance solenoid works to increase the fuel delivery/timing in the IP to help with starting when the engine is cold. If you run down the road while the engine is still cold and or with the IP fuel advanced it will run rough make your truck hammer like your banging on the pistons with a...
Check your air cleaner wing nuts for tightness. I had odd/loud/irritating noise that I ultimately traced to a loose air cleaner cover.
Also, it sounds like your cold advance switch may not be working and is stuck on. I can hear some hammering on the cylinders as your driving it. Does your truck...
No matter what is done to it, the 6.2 is still a turd trying to push a 2.5 ton brick down the road. And there will be no speed or pulling records broken while doing it.
At least now it's quieter for you while thinking about the next upgrade.
I still burn my coal at 25 million BTUs per ton. A ton of coal will fit "belly high" on a standard pallet.
Because of the Ukraine war, the price of coal in upstate NY just increased 40% to $310 a ton . Still cheaper than buying local "seasoned/split wood or bagged pellets.
For those of us that are lazy or in a hurry, there is no need to remove all your glow plugs just to test them. Just unplug the wire to each plug and test continuity by grounding 1 lead and touching the other lead to the spade tip on the plug. If you show continuity your plug is good. If you...
Nice Video;
I guess I stand corrected and would have never guessed. Being fortunate at having 2 trucks to compare with each other, that both run and start identically, I just assumed that all was just perfect. Both my rides are stock and have new or at least newer plugs and act the same way...

Both my trucks have a "cycling after glow" when cold starting. So as you stated above, do I have really good electrical systems in both my trucks? Or do I have issues with both of my trucks? The TM's state the "glow plugs will cycle up to 90 seconds" after start-up.
I had a...
Your glow plugs are not cycling after startup and are causing a large draw on your electrical system. You changed your other parts twice to no avail.
I hate throwing new parts at an attempt to solve a problem but now it may be time to try another glow plug card.
You may want to try replacing the wiper motor/pump with a OEM remanufactured one first. They have a lifetime warranty, cost about $70.00 and may solve that very common problem of your washer pump not working. Make sure you order for a 1984 model year - they have the washer pump built in to the...
I still think you may have a bad card, temp sensor, or both.
The video shows on "your volt meter" that the GPs were/are fully activated when you started the truck "I assume when the engine was already warm". Also the GPs after glow never worked properly in any of your videos. The after glow...
