I talked with my garage people who also painted my NSU motor cycle (know them for over 20 years). The guy doing the actual paint work, to my surprise, also said that doing the zinc is a good way of trowing away money. He would go for sand blasting, than primer, filler on top of that, and than...
I don't have pics of the new M18 Fuel impact wrench and the US impact sockets in action but boy oh boy.
When trying the sound and spin of the M18 Fuel impact wrench (on 2nd level) when I just got it, without load, it did not sounded or felt so impressive. When taking of the 25 year old rusted...
I am waiting for a price quote on "door assembly left" from Reomie.
Problem is, then it would be nice/better to do the windows as well etc etc and you end up ordering a whole new cabin before you realize that you don't have the $$ to pay for it.
But yes, if the price is acceptable, I will...
How does that work? We don't have pressured drinking water but we do have a well and a lot of other water floating around, including our own fish pond and the water standing in the hole around the steam hammer. Maybe we can rig something up.
Edit: the video did not show up in your post, but...
When looking for what was Curtis Wright, I found something way more interesting. Blasphemy, I know, but it was a spin-off of a military request, so its allowable. Have a look at the video in the article:

Thanks for all the quick replies.
We did clean with power washer twice, got some loose stuff off, but most of it is rather stubborn. Problem now is we do not have running pressured water at the workshop, so pressure-washing it again is out. Would not work better anyway.
The needle scaler...
You probably looked very much into this for yourself, any suggestions about brands or models? Or which brands to definitely avoid, which is also helpful.
I know that several cheaper generators use high quality engines, but all diesel gens I saw were over $ 5,000.
I am now going to restore the 1973 (or 1965) M51A2 and want to paint it back into the original colors. The doors need some welding work and also the front and back parts of the left fender, in the bent area. Also, I threw a bucket of cheap water-based paint on top of everything, including the...
Honda has diesel generators, but they are double or triple the price as I could find on short notice. Then again, if you are talking a gen that can take over your home power supply for the next x weeks or months, it is not realistic to expect that you can find a reliable low cost option that...
Second most of the earlier posts. Get a medium sized Honda with the output for what they need. We (my son) uses one for his welding and drilling jobs when installing forged fences etc somewhere without power available. Or if the power goes out in his workshop which is in the middle of nowhere...
We used an old Citroen BX and a Toyota Landcruiser to help out after a flooding due to rain and too much canalized and narrowed run-off brooks. The biggest problem was to get the water across the remains of a flooded river with the roads out. To explain, the water had mostly receded leaving a...
When looking for old timer sales in the Netherlands, I came across a 1964 military Magirus Deutz crane, a 12.6 liter V8 diesel engine (178D). Probably comparable with an M62 or M543.
The trucks looks in very good condition, less than 2000 miles on the counter, so maybe a Nato POMMS depot...
With the reference to the Cold War and Reforger, that made my vote easy.
Most units stationed in Europe had their own MVs and equipment.
What most people don't know is that a lot of additional material was stored in the so-called POMCUS or Pomms depots, waiting for a war that never came...
First Central European SteelSoldier meet was a great success.
The first Central European Steelsoldier Meet was a great success according all participants. Gifts were exchanged, making everybody very happy.
Mike (SCSG-G4) as he looks outside the MKT at the rally. You can see the grass in...
I think its still how it came from the military. Knowing what little of the history of the truck, I think after the military the owners did little more than keep the thing running and paint RAMBO on the nose.
As far as I can see, it definitely is the original Ross Hydrapower. As to...
Actually, the truck is in rather decent shape for its age. The steering and brakes are the biggest problem, but that can be easily solved. Body work: its not really that great, but can be restored without major problems. The frame is hard. One or two air lines to the front connectors are...
Let's see if the video works.

This is after a three-year hiatus. Is this a smooth running engine or what? I was surprised how good it ran and how little exhaust smoke there was.
The language spoken is Dutch
The red tank behind the truck is the planned air...
Time to get on with it.

After a hiatus of more than five years, I now finally am getting back to restoring our M51A2. I had a Dutch student (living in Portugal) over as volunteer, so I finally had the sorely missed Soldier B at my disposal for a few days.
First thing I did...
