You can probably find a better running Saracen for less in the UK. I have a Ferret (the Saracen's little brother) and I've been lusting after a Saracen MK6 for several years now. It's 50s era british wheeled armor, it's going to be odd to find parts for but a runner is quite nice. They're less...
The wiper arm end get's cut off to get a flat area. Drill a hole in the flat arm and tap that with a fine thread screw (#10-24). A wiper arm end adaptor that has a pin type end is then installed on the arm and then you can istall standard arms onto your wipers and get slightly larger sweep's of...
I running some newish since last year 2013 green zipper less silicone boots. I'll check tomorrow and see if they're still good. I had them on before the 2013 Ga rally. They were used at the rally and the truck went through snow and ice that winter.
Chains, Harbor Freight Hoist, pioneer kit, moar chains, chain saw, fuel for same, lighting kit for when out camping and when I bring a generator along and even more chains.
Spare fuel cans.
Snatch blocks (3:1 pull is no problem)
Other tools and stuff.
The Black bag contains a 4" tow strap...
Dave added a winch while he had it and took very good care of the truck. Dave and Joe are restoration nuts (that's a good thing). It was in its original MERDOC camouflage when I bought it from him.
As I am generally a restoration type, I didn't want to make major changes to this truck. Almost...
So, as several other members have some build threads on their trucks and folks seem to find those ideas interesting and useful, I figured I'd start my own here. I have a bunch of thread of piecemeal things I've done over the years, so I guess I'll see about re-posting those here or referring to...
I have run chains in snow/ice conditions here in Suburban Atlanta 2 times now. If you want to add some tension to thing your inside hook is partly the critical point. In theory everything then on the outside should be tight. But since our tires are a bit hard to deal with and there is expansion...
Normal. They're the same lights as on your dash for both instrument illumination or idiot lights for air, high beams or front axle engagement. Common bulbs as on one's dash too. Don't much make sense to spend the money on LED's for this, unless one's just making up an LED array from parts.
It's been a while since I posted images here. The methodologies keep changing and aren't always obvious. Plus the image size limit is annoying as heck.
If I could include the image to the flicker account and just have it link there using usual BB-Code that'd be easier.....
While I wait for night to fall so I can get proper images, I'll explain my line of thinking.
My daily driver, a Honda Insight (2010) has a set of foot well lights in a very faint blue that work well. I added those from the Honda US catalog of Fit and Crosstour accessories. Apparently offered...
When I added my rear facing work light for backing up and hooking up, and my front facing driving lights under the bumper, I rigged up a 3 position switch cluster under the dash to the left of the driver's knee. I knew I'd be adding something else so I left a spot for one additional switch...
I wonder if there's a legal challenge as to the unsuitability for these as on road vehicles as compared to the lot sold in Atlanta that apparently were and have been on the road for more than a decade. ie, a challenge under equal protection under the law. It makes no rhyme or reason that one set...
Could someone who's reading this and has a currently assembled slant back with these gas struts please check the following measurement for me?
What is the distance from the rear vertical metal bracing plate to the brackets that anchor/support the lower ball pivot of the gas strut?
I have a...
