    Breaking Down Tires

Knowing how do to do this and having the tools on the road could be a life saver. I carry the duckbill in my truck along with the levers, spare flaps and spare tubes. I re-mounted ALL of the 1100x20 tires on my deuce for this task and mounted two more as spares. It's also a good thing to...

    increasing reliability and offroad performance

What about something more along the lines of this Supcat Couger? Added roll cage, nerf bars, skid plates and a re-worked bed to accommodate a lot of the necessary externally accessible storage on the ground from outside the bed. I'm kind of thinking a dropside bed with truck tool boxes mounted...

M809: Exhaust header to muffler bolt size/grade

I think they're 1/2". You'll want stainless if you can get them. They'll handle the temperature changes better and not seize.

First Aid Kit, Fire extiguisher, Safety Triangles, road Flares, Blanket, Flash light, spare sweater and other stuff in the cab. More in the bed.

Flexible brake lines - age question

I rather want to get some aeroquip steel braided lines.

For that you'll probably want to run a new line from the battery.

    Detroit Lockers

I have made the trip from Atlanta to PA and back twice now in my deuce. I singled it out and added a second fuel tank to increase speed and range. I run at 55mph and I've started doing engine oil analysis to keep an eye on bearing metal. No problems yet. A muffler helps the cab from being...

    Deuce - 1, Honda Passport - 0

Having almost done this myself as a stupid teenager (1.) I can surmise that the teen and 2 friends were definitely distracted and the driver was not 'driving'. Looks like he froze. I managed to NOT freeze and not hit anything substantial myself. I'm glad I got over that stupid REAL fast...

    Deuce Tool?

Is it a doohicky or a dingus, because they're different. A Dingus is simple, a doohickey is more complicated. ;)

Drive Shaft Flanges...what kind of bolts?

I'm not sure Doug. Check the TM. the deuce uses 1/2"-20 x 1 1/2" long.

Drive Shaft Flanges...what kind of bolts?

Well, I want to do it right really. Thread lock is good but not if it's the wrong bolt/nut hardware to start with.

Drive Shaft Flanges...what kind of bolts?

KSM715, they are. The slotted head locknuts appear to be as well as I had 4 vibrate loose. 3 were GONE from the front drive shaft from driving around on snowchains in the ice we had and I had one on the Transmission/X-fer intershaft go missing. I had replaced the front driveshaft nuts/bolts with...

Drive Shaft Flanges...what kind of bolts?

The lock nuts usually don't appear to come in a grade 8 rating. The Grade 8 bolts I can see easily (shear strength) but the nuts I'm not so sure since they're not actually under tremendous tension.

Drive Shaft Flanges...what kind of bolts?

So, on my trip to Camden SC and back, I had an issue with an odd vibration that when I tracked it down was the Transmission to transfer box drive shaft bolts having worked loose. I was missing a nut and since this was a new transmission, I have to wonder if the split lock bots are at the end of...

    Two engines

I think you'll find that you still don't get the same airflow and cooling effects that you get with the engine in the airstream. This has been an issue of design and cooling on AFVs for nearly a century. Usually you have to oversize the radiator on the rear facing system. So you'll have engine...

    Two engines

As Bjorn says, the preservation aspect of this hobby tends to cause some to frown heavily on major alterations. Mind you the majority of the objections has been that with the addition of a second engine to a deuce, the question is where to put it? You're not going to fit it side by side in...

    Two engines

I think some of the big Russian Missile Transporters made by MAZ were Two Stroke Deisels with two engines in the truck. Two engines isn't a new thing. The Stuart tank, the Matilda Tank and a number of other vehicles had this sort of a setup. Usually driving a common gearbox system allowing one...
