    Trip to the Maginot-Line / France with a M35a2

You'll note that the Germans went around the Maginot line and did NOT try to frontally assault it. That would have been suicide. You'll also note that those impacts didn't penetrate the casemate save for the one oblique shot on the opening. Very likely the 88 crews were under fire from the...

    Making Bows and Stakes?

RE: Getting green wood I used spruce which is one of the springy woods used for bed slats in those futon and platform type beds. Strong and flexible. So far they've stood up nicely. Tricky part is the vertical bits. Once you have those set correctly, it's a cinch to take a section and fit it...

    EUC DENIED PT2 (kinda)

Check your credit! That's one of the first things the look at when doing a background check which is what they're doing with an EUC. You very well might have an Identity theft issue or just bad data on your credit history.

    A few M35A2 parts

Any front or rear shackles and shackle mounts? I'd like to add some SOLID anchors to my transport trailer.

Ya'd think CA would have enough to do!

Did you guys see the story about the home owner that was being FORCED to cut down Redwood trees because his neighbor installed solar panels? http://www.cnn.com/2008/LIVING/wayoflife/02/29/redwoods.vs.solar.ap/index.html

    rear facing transmission PTO lever

I'd prefer a lever to pull/push to engage/disengage the Pump for confirmed off/on positions. But for valving, I'm actually inclined to go with a set of 24 volt solenoid valves so I can add a 8000lb winch or so up on top of the bed to allow for loading Shelters with a bridle and some ramps. I...

    rear facing transmission PTO lever

RE: Re: RE: rear facing transmission PTO lever So, along the same lines, for a dump hoist configuration, what sort of PTO pump would folks recommend?

    rear facing transmission PTO lever

But to answer the question, check the manuals to see exactly where the levers go. On the Dump Bed trucks there's a combined hoist control lever on the left side of the driver's seat that controls the hoist AND engages the Hydraulic pump as part of the action of the lever. Different positions...

    rear facing transmission PTO lever

Well, it only needs to pull/push between two positions. I have one and I'll be needing to rig something up once I figure out what pump to get and install and then get a tank and then find funding/time to get the bed hoist installed. Eventually, I'll move the bed back to add a crane if I can ever...

    M35A2 Transmission rebuild/replacement?

Thanks Tom, I'm probably going to be constrained for time and, frankly, I don't mind the idea of having a second transmission laying around as a spare once I get the good one swapped in and then take the time to rebuild the dodgy one.

Deuce + Shelter = Camper RV

RE: Duece + Shelter = Camper RV There are some blocks with an attached eyelet that go in the mid point stake pocket and allow you to attach a set of wire ropes and turn buckles to the shelter so it's properly anchored to the bed. That'd work a lot better and be stronger (and more durable) than...

    Fitting more gauges...

Ok, that makes sense. I've thought about such measurements but for a closed transmission there's not much to look for other than incipient failure.

    M35A2 Transmission rebuild/replacement?

Looks like I'll probably try to snag one from John Winslow.

    Fitting more gauges...

Hmm, how useful is a transmission temp gauge? Why not go a step further and get one for the transfer box too? Are you measuring oil temp?

    Austin Champ Pickup

Bear in mind that there are a lot of roads in europe where you don't have a place to turn around. So, 50 mph in reverse is a good thing if you meet something bigger than you. that's not hard in something the size of a jeep. As far as styling, all of the Post WWII british trucks got nice curvy...

    9.00x20.00 to 11.00x200

I bought radial tubes as they're thicker and more durable (they have to deal with more flexing by the radial tires). I used a duck billed hammer and got pretty good results. A big tire spoon with rounded edges for leverage on the tire itself is useful as is a set of 3 pry-bars from Sears. Those...
