So, i'm about to take another trip to PA via I85/I77/I81 to Fort Indian Town Gap for another trip. This time I'll have 1100 singles, two 55 gallon fuel tanks and I'll be trying to get it done in 2 days. I'll be leaving Tuesday the 23rd.
I'll post pictures when I'm packed and about to hit the road.
In researching tires the past few months on my singles project, I did learn that inner tubes will help prevent air from getting into separations in the tire due to age or damage. The tire is still weakened, but the pressurized air will find it's way into layers if there's no tube to get into the...
I'll be looking at sites like that eventually. First I need to tear all the rust off and start looking at the parts that are salvageable. I'm hoping the frame isn't too badly gone and that the running gear/engine is good. From there I can get a new sheet metal assembly and some gauges and such...
So I picked the jeep up. It was pretty locked up, the front right springs were pulled away from the hangers in the process of loading it (dragging it bodily up the trailer with the winch on the deuce. Getting it off is going to be fun. Probably going to have to move the trailer to where it needs...
I bought a double flare tool that has the insert to go down in and limit the inside diameter and get the right angles on the first part of the flare operation. It made neat flares. One of the ones that was leaking on the #2 try had a bit of galling from previous work on that bit of pipe, so I...
The trick with the switch is mounting it up. A manual switch is easier, but eventually, i'll wire up things just like Bjorn did and run the power for that reverse lever switch off of the lighting controls. That way it only comes on when the lights are on. Not a high priority right now though.
I bought one of those from a fellow I know who fished it out of a salvage pile. He hauls things there for the military and gets to fish all sorts of neat stuff out. Sold it too a fellow over at the Reading Air Show Who had a WWII era military wrecker. From junk pile in a barn to a collector with...
Could be that I'm not getting them tight enough as those two that are slightly leaky are hard to get torqued right due to their positions. I'll take some pictures tomorrow of the routing of piping and the valve.
the 5 ton blocks at Colemans are good. they had several tri-walls last summer, should still have a bunch. Get 2-3 of them so you can do re-directrs. Army-Tents.com has a double 5 ton snatch block (two sheaves/pulleys).
I have a flood mounted just like Bjorn, but my light is manually switched. The advantage is that when I'm towing at trailer at night I can check the trailer.
I just picked up a spare old style tail light that I think I'm going to mount on the bows so It faces the inside of the cargo cover for a...
