I don't see an issue the FMTV vehicles are exempt from safety regs and the engines are EPA certified which comes with a CARB certification as well. I have many customers that have their trucks registered in California.
When adjusting doors I've had to bend the door into shape, and one one truck had to pull the door drame of the cab back (it was physically damaged). It took me about 20 hours on that truck to get the doors perfect.

Most if not all of the surplus parts have been consumed, however all the parts can either be fabricated or purchased from the OEM, at significant cost I might add.
As far as I know there are two different tops.. Cammo and Tan. I've had a dozen new ones at one time and that many used ones and they all have the flaps pointed rearward.
If the cab latch is leaking you probably won't be able to get the cab lifted, as hydraulic fluid will be pumped out of the cab latch. You have to lift the cab manually by crane or forklift or something.
24 should work as well as they are the same dimension the only difference are the terminals are flip flopped. I think I used the 24F because walmart had a sale for $40 each.
Check your door catches, often they get worn, damaged, or dirty and put additional stress on the handle. Fixing or replacing the handle without addressing the root cause will result in a broken handle.
