Swap the tires, swap the bulbs, and keep the trailer...but don't cut the plug off. Just buy yourself the proper receptacle (http://www.eriksmilitarysurplus.com/trreflmo12pi.html) and wire it into your truck! Not only does it discourage theft because no one else will be set up to run the brake...

This is the main consideration that has been driving my desire for an AirBeam shelter. I figure I can drag them out solo and then let an air compressor do the rest of the work. (This thread has been a major inspiration, btw. So thanks for your detailed explanations and updates.)
