Popping sound comming from front end?

Mine had this problem but I replaced the kingpin and spindle bushings and haven't noticed it doing it since then.

    Tool box

I carry a toolbox with the socket for the hubs, breaker bar, torque wrench, duck tape, electrical tape, screw drivers, and a few other thigns, also glad hand tire inflation setup, bottle jack and a wrench kit and lug wrenches. That fills up the toolbox pretty well. It's also a good idea to carry...

    questions for california owners

I've been pulled over in my M109A3 which is historic and I have a regular class C and he didn't say anything about it. Same thing happened to my buddy in his historic registered deuce. Of course it all depends on the cop. It seems everyone has a different interpretation of that law.

    bad axle vent

You definitely need to repack your bearings now. On every leaking hub I've pulled apart(15 now), the grease had been washed off.

Front axle drive makes all the difference.

Since they're open differentials you need differential lockers to lock all the wheels. Search for the threads on the lockers for an A2, should be the same as an A3.

    Engine temp

230 is hot for a multi-fuel. They typically should run around 180. Get it fixed or you risk blowing a head-gasket.

    '71 M35A2 air compressor lubrication

The oil is pumped from the oil pump[thumbzup] The only line exiting the pump has to do with air, although oil usually finds its way to the air tanks. Was anything plugged preventing oil from getting there?

    Primary fuel filter "changed"

Mine was missing the cone and just sitting in the bottom of the canister and the same with one of the secondaries. The type you got is the reusable kind. Mine had that also. You can clean it with brake cleaner and compressed air.

Front axle seals and boots stepXstep

It should be okay if you're not fording water. Check and see it's gear oil. You can smell the difference. I tried repairing my seals twice when they were leaking gear oil but they kept leaking so I said **** it and kept driving for 1k miles or so and finally replaced the spindle and kingpin...

Fuel leak, over top of turbo, what is it?

Mine just started leaking too. Good thing I decided to start it and look at the engine running just for the heck of it. I didn't notice anything when I drove it a few days before. I may just cap it at the IP and probably just remove the whole setup since I've never had to use it in CA. It seems...

Looks a little too big for a deuce:sad:

    M109A3 RV Conversion

A few people have done that and I think it's a good idea. It's nice to have all the info and pics on one page instead of having to go through pages and pages and find a few at a time.

    M109A3 RV Conversion

8/1/12 Been doing brake and axle work the past few weeks. Replaced every hard line, rebuilt the wheel cylinders and master cylinder and got braided stainless lines made locally. It's good to see all brand new brake lines everywhere. Also repacked the bearings and replaced the seals. One rear...

    M109A3 RV Conversion

7/13/12 Scored a Westbrass Victorian faucet on eBay for super cheap. Somehow missed that it was a vented faucet until I got it, so I'll see if I can get that to work with the instant heater I plan on using. Decided to get these done at Les Schwab since they deal with split rims and can powder...

    M109A3 RV Conversion

4/15/12 Installed a muffler. Went with the Donaldson M070028 and it definitely cuts out the exhaust to the point where I really don't hear it much over the engine noise anymore. I didn't trim down the stack, just moved it up so it's further away from the cab and can cut down even more noise...

    M109A3 RV Conversion

3/24/12 Got a few more things done. Started on getting the oak floor put down. Since the wheel well was uneven and the 1/4" plywood top layer made it a little lower than the top of it I filled it in with some self leveling floor filler to get it nice and even. Then I put a vapor barrier down...
