Here's some pics of one of them, sorry I took these in the winter. As you can see a lot of dents but very little rust. Once I got both of mine I sold all my newer vehicles, best thing I ever did.

Find the ones with high miles, over 60,000, has dents, says running condition unknown those usually go for a lot less. I paid around 1000 for each of mine, but I have had to put about 2000 into each of them so far, that includes having them shipped to my house.

That seems kinda high. The parts kit for these Alt. is only 20-30 dollars. I had mine rebuilt for $50. at a shop new bearings, brushes, and regulator.

I agree with ya ChevySean79 its getting to be like that in MI either there junk or a lot of cheap short cuts.

Maybe they did that so they could have a drain hole. Don't know why they would drill case for that, when they could have bought a diff cover with a drain hole. I really get tired of people cutting, drilling, or hacking things instead of doing it right.

Both gen. are supposed to put out 14.5v each. Sounds like your gen's. are failing.

I had mine repaired at a shop for $75, couldn't find a new one for less than $250.

I had a lifted 79 chevy 3/4 ton, I used skyjacker 8 inch front and rear (no blocks), with 3 inch body lift and had 40 inch boggers, had a better ride than most cars I had been in.
