    muiti-fuel won't start

I bet the fuel filters are stopped up. And or the lift pump isn't workin and it's starving for fuel. Usally but not allways, it won't start if there is air in the system. Try turning on the lift pump ( power switch) and open the bleeder on top of the two fuel filters on the drivers side of the...

    Suggestion for Locking Hubs

I installed my selectro's when i still had a sprag t case. Althought the drive shaft still turned it was much easier to make hard turns on dry pavement. Epcacilly in parking lots. The sprag would engage and jerk the steering wheel around on tight turns. Now with the airshift and lockouts i can...

    Houston Area Parts???

I might be able to fix you up on the fender. I'll look at it tonight and see what shape it's in. Gensco tire on OST sells ND's for $50 to $75 depending on what you want. They have a few thousand and you have to dig through and find the ones you want. As far as the winch goes try hitting the...

    Houston Area Parts???

Houston truck went out of buisness about 4 years ago. I wish i had half the parts he sent to scrap. There isn't anybody else who specializes in miliarty trucks here anymore. If you run into problems i'd be glad to help. They are pretty easy to work on. And the guys here can answer any questions...

    Knock, knock...

I've had great results with lucas. Try using twice the normal amount and run the tank of fuel through it on the highway. These engines love to run and after 50 miles or so they smooth out. Road trips do wonders for them.

M54 kaiser on life support...NEED HELP

I'm assuming the truck has been pulling heavy loads at somewhat higher RPM's. And i guessing it's doing it at a high elevation? Reducing the pipe size might not seem like much but id bet it was able to get the EGT's up a few hundred deg when working hard. The muffler guy that told you this would...

    Dual EGT gauge

On the larger engines we do each cylinder has it's own pryo. So the operator can see if something is going down hill. If a cylinder is running 20deg different than the others you can tell if a injector/rings or valves need attention. Running dual thermos would narrow it down to the front or back...

    Goodyear G177 or G286?

We use 177's on our fire trucks drive axles. The civi fire trucks. All our M series use ND's. We use 177s becuase they work well getting the trucks off the pavement. They seem to wear fast though. Mabye it's because they are driven hard?

    Vegoil destroys engines?

Bjorn, Could you use some test strips and let us know about how acidic the bio/WVO is? I figure results will vary between batches. But i'd like to see about where it's at. Thanks

M54 kaiser on life support...NEED HELP

A 3 inch pipe is too small. You may have over heated the turbo because it couldn't remove the exaust gas fast enough. This will send the exaust gas temp way up. You may have also overheated other engine componets. Olthough the water temp didn't overheat. Can you post any pics and show where your...

Proper way to set steering box preload

I gave about $35 for the bushings, seal and gasket to rebuild my steering box. I got the parts from memphis. I haven't done it yet. I was waiting for cooler weather. My pitman arm does the same thing. And my truck wanders a bit too.

Just bought a M1028 and having one starting problem

Like mike said. If the glow plugs come on with ether in any form you may get a nice poping sound. If so grab your tool box and start pulling the heads so you can see how much dammage it did. Starting fluid can only be used when the glowplugs don't work. I sudjest WD40 or something else with...

Legal use of veggie oil as a fuel

The guys at the bio station here in houston tell me that it can only be used as a additive. Ant that's why they only sell B99.9. There has to be some diesel to avoid taxes. But if there is no die in the fuel then how can they say it's not a additive or untaxed?

    Knock, knock...

Better to be safe than sorry. Try changing the oil anyway. And I'd idle it up a little. The headlights don't hold up to vibrations at idle too well. And they will fail. Idling it up a little takes the vibrations down a few notches. I run 15w40 In both my multis with no problems.

Compressor pullies are from the hot place

After loosening the clamp bolts i took 2 large flat screwdrivers and drove them into the splits. This loosens the clamp on the threads. Then i had soldier "B" or wifey hold a wrench on the back side of the pulley. Then i used the screw drivers to rotate the front pulley. This didn't work well...
