Yea a couple of hours with a shovel will wear you out!.
You should have seen to look on her face when the M52 5TON appeared in the driveway. I think i need to build a bigger doghouse so i'll have more leg room!
I can relate. My wife said NO WAY when i told her i wanted to get mine. So i drove it home when she was shopping. It sat in the back yard for 3 months before she noticed it. (camo paint and a wooded lot!) Then i got the deer in the headlight look with the statment "I WE AGREED YOU WOULD NOT BUY...
It's not uncommon to have a low of 80deg F in the summer here. It's also not hard to break 100 daily. Although duece driving at that temp almost takes the fun out of it. I agree coking=fouling. But i still think it would be best to mix in at least some diesel. Fouling injectors is a constant...
I'vw thought about this a few times. Since the mutli can handle thicker fuels, why can't we run straight veg oil. With out heating. Bjorn, How many engine hours do you think we could go before the injectors start to clog? Do you think a injector cleaner mixed in would help?
There isn't a seal like one would think. It's too hot there for a rubber seal. They use a laberynth to stop oil from bleeding over into the exaust. As the rotor increases speed it thrusts forward witch brings the grooves closer together. Since you mentioned you don't have any thrust movement i...
Do you let it idle before shutting it down? It sounds like the thrust bearing it the turbo may have some coke on it. Witch will let it spin by hand but when it's under a load from gas expansion it's thrusting forward and slowing down. Try grabbing the turbine shaft and moving it back and forth...
When these seals fail it's usally because the pinion bearings are bad!. That lets the pinion shaft waller around instead of running true. This lets gear lube pass between the seal and the flange. Iv'e changed about 20 sets of these bearings on the fire trucks. You will need a bearing seperator...
I just tried some lucas in my car. The injectors must have been dirty because it really pirked the car up. It also cut the black smoke in half. I haven't checked to see if the milage increased. It probally went down because i keep my foot in it now with the extra power.
There is a 1/4 NPT pipe plug facing the front of the truck on mine. That's where i put my probe. I've noticed not all manifolds have this plug. It's very close to the #1 cylinder port. I mesured the probe length and made a extension pipe so the probe wouldn't stick too far into the manifold.
I...
Every one i've done has a threaded cap over the adjusting screw and one lock nut. After removing the cap release the lock nut and turn the adjusting screw clockwise. Or into the FDC. And lock the nut back down. Only turn the screw it 1/8 turn increments. After each adjustment rapidly move the...
M52 tractor with a LDS465-1A is doing the same thing. It's stuck at 2000 RPM's and i had to cut the fuel line to shut it off. I've got a spare IP and i'm going to swap it as soon as i some time off. Bjorn, I'll check the flame heater nozzle. I never thought of that. Thanks!
I've wondered what they will do when i go flying by with my M52 and M127 flat bed trailor. I'm thinking of painting "not for hire" where the unit numbers would normally go.
Bjorn, The stuff i bought was B99 from a commerical supplier in houston.
I haven't tried it in my multifuel, only my pickup truck. It's a 82, 3/4ton with a "J" series 6.2 and a banks turbo. I normally get 20 mpg at 60mph.
I only tried 1 tankfull, it took 18 gallons so the tank was close to...
After pulling the top off i didn't think it would work. I didn't know if the cummings tranny would work on the back of the multifuel. Most of the time the truck will be bobtailing so i wanted to be able to cruse at a lower RPM. If the later tranny will work i'll go that route. Thanks!
I tried some commerical made bio in my 82 3/4ton with a 6.2 and a banks turbo. I wasen't impressed. I lost a lot of power and milage. Although the engine started and ran great. I havent tried it since. The commerically made stuff cost too much. When diesel goes back up. I'll give it another shot.
