What is the grille guard from?

Don't take offense, I'm only asking. And you're right, I don't have to like it. Of course, it begs the question; how fast do you usually drive blindly through the brush in reverse?

What is the grille guard from?

Other than adding some much needed weight (?) what purpose would this serve?

    Accessories

If you're going to put it under the hood, maybe it would be more appropriate to use a marine fuse panel that was made for damp conditions. A quick search on amazon finds this one that's not only marine grade, but less expensive.

Anyone use their 6.2 diesel with a power inverter for camping?

I picked up this marine 24v inverter from craigslist for $50 or $60; I forget the rating but I can look later. A lot of boats use 24v so that's one place to look. EDIT to add: I routinely troll cl for stuff, using search terms like 24v, 24vdc, 24 vdc, 24 volt, and 24 volts. You never know...

    Brake bleeding problems

The last time I bled the brakes on my 1009 I messed up and got a big air bubble in the lines. There was enough air in there to compress and consequently almost nothing would come out the bleeder. The wife was getting tired of playing so I just hooked up the big vacuum pump and sucked the air...

    New dash pad.

Mine looks like that. CoverKing's website says they make covers for our dashboards. I might need to look at that route.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I like flares myself, like a stack of two or three of them. There's something about red hot burning stuff that seems to deter people. ;)

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Yes, they unscrew with a torx bit, I forget which size though. Mark the location or just pay attention to the marks on the paint when you reinstall. I put the pin head-down on the concrete floor, put the bushing on, positioned a 14mm deep socket on top of the bushing, then tapped it on using a...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I installed the plastic bushings on the door strikers, now my doors close with just a push. I was needing to slam them so hard I was worried the window might shatter. I was about to call a body shop to get them aligned but dang if they didn't look like they were aligned just fine to me. Some...

I don't know, mine is an '86 and it had two of those crappy relays under the dash, one burned up and the other waiting to screw me the first chance it got.

I was most impressed with the smooth dash pad. Maybe I need to get a new one for mine....

^^^ I have similar experiences only without the fluid ever returning. Once every other month or so I'll pop the top off the master cylinder and it'll be a half inch low. I keep a bottle of fluid tucked down next to the coolant overflow tank for refilling. I've never figured out where it's...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I got the GoLight from GimpyRobb installed on the right side antenna riser. That spot was reserved for the UHF amateur antenna, but I decided to go with a dual-band antenna on the left side instead. The first problem with the install is that the light mount has a 4" bolt circle, while the...

    Bought a CUCV M1010 !

You can install it yourself- that's a $300 bill in your pocket. Don't forget they're going to tell you your U-joints are shot and your drive shaft need to be rebalanced.

    Bought a CUCV M1010 !

Tell him you consulted with the guys on the Steel Soldiers forum and they suggested $3,000 for it. I mean, hey, I said it, so you just need one more person to say it and it's a "they". :D

    over-the-wheel-well tool box in M1009?

I found a plastic one on craigslist for cheap and tried to make it work, but it didn't. I tried it on the driver's side on top of the jerry can bracket-nope. Cut the jerry can bracket off the floor- still nope. Ended up selling on cl for about $10 more than I paid for it.
