    Spin on fuel filter mod

I also wandered around Home Depot for a while collecting fittings, then over to Napa for a pressure gauge and petcock. The petcock can be helpful for using a vacuum pump to pull fuel through the filter for filling, and it can also bleed off pressure before you change the filter or perform other...

Stanadyne FM100 fuel management system upgrade

I left the truck out all night nose-high in the driveway. Previously this would have cause the truck to start, then stall, then be very hard to get restarted. I went out this morning and it fired right up and never even hiccuped. I'm glad that's solved. It wasn't a problem if it was parked...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I installed the FM100 today with little drama. I changed the oil and filter after that. The oil filter has a small dent in the bottom (second wal-mart filter I've gotten that was dented  ) I hope the dent doesn't do anything bad.

Stanadyne FM100 fuel management system upgrade

Project finished. It took about 45 minutes to get the old filter mess off the firewall, get the new one mounted, screw in all the fittings, and connect it all back up. Then it took another hour and a half to fix all the leaks. (I figured one wrap of pipe tape would be enough, and snug would...

Stanadyne FM100 fuel management system upgrade

I've got most of the parts gathered for my install. I have some spacers to move the filter head off the firewall, but they're two inches long so I may need to find something shorter. I plan to connect the vacuum pump to the petcock on the extra output boss and pull fuel up through (if it can...

Chronicle of a tan M1101 trailer purchase from GovLiquidation.com

If you look at the riser in this picture you can see the twist/bend: http://www.topohiker.com/FS/TFS/TFS11a.png

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

No, I was pulling out of a parking space at the Sears in the mall. I didn't notice anything until I heard a very loud bang which was the bound lunette ring popping free. I don't know if globbing some grease on the pintle would help or just make a mess. I would at least weld some reinforcement...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I had a set-up like that on my Jeep WK before I bought the M1009. The lunette ring on the M1101 is pretty beefy and it got bound in the pintle which put a permanent twist in the riser.

Stanadyne FM100 fuel management system upgrade

Is the heater necessary? We rarely get below freezing, but it would suck if I took the truck up to the mountains to snowshoe, then find it doesn't want to start when I get back. EDIT to add: We had fuel heat on the C-141s, to prevent waxy fuel from clogging the filter. But it had to be pretty...

    M1009: Water leaking into cab

I thought water leaking in was a design feature on these trucks, like maybe so the soldiers wouldn't get thirsty.

Chronicle of a tan M1101 trailer purchase from GovLiquidation.com

I don't know ton, but mine seemed a little small for the lunette ring on the trailer. It bound up during a turn and bent the riser plate before it popped free.

Stanadyne FM100 fuel management system upgrade

Just a quick question about these. I got the filter head (FM100?) from gimpyrobb for my M1009. Is there wiring in place in my truck to run one of Standyne's heaters, or would I need to wire it myself?

    m1009 rear seat question

There's a prop rod mounted to the right side of the seat that holds it upright and off the backs of the front seats.

    m1009 Radiator questions

I'm in the same boat- small pinhole leaks that I sealed with some stop-leak for the time being. Still leaking somewhere I think. I've been holding out for one of the aluminum ones but the three-core ones are out of stock.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I did my front brakes a few weeks ago and it went pretty smoothly. After reading that I'm glad I never looked at anything else.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I've always called the CUCV the 'Chick Repellant Vehicle' because whenever someone is selling one the reason they give for selling is, "My wife hates it" or, "My wife won't ride in it." My wife was on the fence about mine until we took it camping. Now she says I can't get rid of it...

    Wiring a lightbar

Isn't the bus-bar on the firewall 24 volts? I don't think 24 volts would be healthy for a 12 strobe light.
