I've had no off road trouble with my m1008. The long wheel base doesn't affect much until you start crawling over extremely rough terrain. Side by side, off road, the M1008 will outperform the M1009. I have them both. But as said above, the M1008 is not made for highway use.
I have bought these tires from $15-$40 with 85-95% tread. If the tread is 80% or more, I wouldn't take any less than $30 each. The rims should sell for no less than $25 each. Although if they are in great condition, I would price at $45 each. It's just a matter of finding a person in need.
Welcome, have you gotten the training manuals yet? I wouldn't trade these manuals for anything. Anyway, good luck building and maintaining your collection.
Welcome to the site take your time and make sure you get what you want. Don't get excited and buy the first one you get a chance to buy. If you go to fast, you may go the wrong way. Thats why MV's are so slow. Jumping in to fast can leave you with an extra job instead of a enjoyable hobby.
I spent many hours in one of these trucks. It makes me think about who spent time in mine (and what they did to it). A guy from my shift and a guy from another shift got into an altercation. So they began to mess with each others duty vehicles. Long story short, we ended up with one truck with...
I agree brake line replacement is a must. I have had the spring bolt hung in the bushing before, thats a pain in the arse. I drilled holes all the way around (through the bushing) then heated the bushing with a mapp torch. Next I knocked out the bolt and melted bushing all in one. Sounds easy...
The big question is what are you planning to run for 2-3 hours at night? Let me know, I will do a test run to see how it works before you start handing money out.
I have a 98 blazer with the same inverter as the previous post. I added a second deep cycle battery and replaced the oem alternator (125A-150A) with a high amp alternator (300A+). DB electrical would be a good place to check. They sell all types of high amp alternators. I'm unsure whether they...
I relocated my second battery, two batteries side by side on the front. A deep cycle battery was added in the back. I removed the slave cables and used them to connect the inverter, which is mounted on a plate on the drivers side. I had to relocate my ww fluid tank back to the firewall. I use...
I have removed my intial post. I couldn't believe what the **** I wrote. To many paint fumes lately, I guess. The Dana 60/14b is a great 4X4 setup. Although any axle setup can give out under extreme 4X4 conditions. They weren't designed to be used that way. Anyway, I'll shut up before I mix...
