    M923 flat towing practice

Was practicing towing m923 with other m923....medium tow bar and 1" feet. Everything was fine.....since I was only pulling in a field, you'll notice no safety chains or air supply. Everything in neutral (tranny and transfer case). a couple questions from those that have done this before: 1...

Found a chunk of metal after oil change on my M923A1

Does it smoke excessively, significant blow-by, how is oil pressure? if oil pressure good, how is power? If all is good, you could take compression readings on cylinders to confirm rings are good.

Found a chunk of metal after oil change on my M923A1

I'm not an expert, but cannot think of what would be copper. Valves, liners, rings, main bearings, cam bearings, con-rod pins, bushings, thrust washers, oil pump bearings, etc, are all something way harder than copper. Could it it be a separate component plumbed into system like an egr or...

    I want a 5 ton

Having a naturally aspirated and turbo charged, I cannot say one is better than the other except for fuel consumption on turbo version (A2). They are well made and easy to drive trucks and I don't think you can make a bad choice.

    Air Brake Protection Valve leaking/venting

I've got a similar sounding leak, and have been checking check valves and other valves all over the truck with no success yet. Did you notice the leak only when you had the brake pedal depressed, or was it when you disengaged the parking brake as well? if I air up my truck and then shut it...

    Weak brake problem.....solved

My new m1078 had a weak driver side front brake. Took me a while to figure it out, but the last military mechanic that fixed the front brake obviously never tested his handy-work. the photo shows the brake wedge that was installed (left) and the correct wedge. Naturally, with the wedge that...

Don't Use Low Range Reverse with 939's? Here's Why !!

As an engineer, IMHO, this is clearly a design flaw. 1. Vehicles drive in reverse and we've been trained to do that 2. Warning tags don't keep people from doing what they have been trained to do.
