    Meet Mr Rusty

Yes. If you look close at the last pic you will see the burn through from the diamond shaped plate on the inside. Thats the way ICAR says a frame section should be done.

    New dash pad.

A cover will not work on this one. Way to far gone. I'll take the time to fit everything before I put color on it. If I don't like it I'll try a US made one. There about 300.00.

    New dash pad.

New dash pad. Anybody know how well they fit? Anybody try the A/M dash pads from LMC or Brothers? I have one coming from Brothers and can't find any info good or bad. I'm not expecting perfect but it dose need to fit decent. There are some USA made ones that cost more. I'll pay more for a...

going on a road trip in 85.m1010 (flat bed)

Let's make sure I understand. You want to tow 10 tons (20.000) LBS with an old 6.2 diesel, single wheel Chevy truck over 400 miles. First your so over wt. if you get stopped you will never be able to pay the fines. 2nd that truck will never pull that load. So be ready for a few very high tow...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

It's on top of the rt frame rail just in front of the main crossmember where the ft spring mount is. I can't say they are all stamped there but I'd bet GM did stamp all trucks in the same place. Mine matchs all the other tags. If I rememeber I'll take a pic in the morning.

    CUCV replacement brake components

Nope. I never buy from Autozone or Advanced. They do not give me the shop discounts I get from real venders. I do buy alot from NAPA. Bottom line is even the best line of parts are made off shore. Just not the same as years ago.

    CUCV replacement brake components

Any brake parts should not be affected by DOT 5 vs DOT 3. I'v used both in cars over the years and never had problems. DOT 5 will cause leaks in alot of reman parts. My thoughts where always that the specs are not as good as brand new. I'v also had brand new calipers fail within a few weeks with...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Awhile back I posted that I had a bent ft end on my 1028. Seems the truck got hit in the rt ft at one time and did not get repaired correct. I set it up on my frame machine and found the rt ft rail down and back about an inch. Long story short the frame is fine now but the ft end still has a...
