    Loving my MEP-003A

Early on in our hitch my spousal unit painted a sign for me that read "Home is where it is". More than happy to learn of your return. Thanks, and welcome back.

Anyone seen this on the road?

My daughter spotted this someplace between Houston and Austin. Pretty whacked out!

    correct gaskets for filters

I, too, had no success at the Walmart I tried...no fuel/oil filters; sub-useless staff. So, I ordered from Associated Diesel the Baldwin PF906 which crosses with the C1125PL; also got their P80-HD which crosses with the CH6PL. The square-section gasket that comes with the PF906 is the Baldwin...

    Filters found on surplus generators?

All three Fram. Oil filter was missing the gasket outside the can and found a steel washer atop the filter! No make on the air filter.

    MEP-003A hook up question

another pilgrim seeking counsel I had an electrician out to discuss how to wire the 003 to the house. Based on the extensive threads here and elsewhere, and exploration of numerous manufacturer and supplier sites, the simplest, and least expensive, solution for me seems to be an interlock...

    New fuel pumps!

Good question. It was sort of a 'galvanic' response. When I read transfer, I thought about a relatively inexpensive means of filtering ATF to burn in the deuce. Wasn't thinking about the 3rd pump.

    New fuel pumps!

Wonder if they'd push ATF through a couple of filters. Seem a bit slow...32-45 gph...but they're certainly cheaper than the Facet for the genset.

    Genset filters?

I am wondering if anyone has used oil and fuel filters other than Fram, Napa, or Wix. Cross-ref tables provide a multitude of other manufacturer numbers...Baldwin, Donaldson, Fleetrite, Purolator, et al. Just a quick scan of crosses for the CH6PL shows that dimensions can differ a little. The...

Bad Military Surplus Generator Advice Online

Re Ike's start of this thread, one of my Dad's favorite aphorisms was from Ben Franklin: "Believe none of what you hear, and only half of what you see." Re the previous post, to be absolutely correct, it's the electron potential, not pressure. Only reason I can comfortably write this is...

    where to find a MEP-003A ?

For what it's worth, a recent sale (11939) had a boat load of 03a's. They ranged from single-digit hours on refurbished sets to a few having several thousands of hours. There were a dozen or so at Warner Robins AFB in Georgia that had 300-700 or so hours. Some of those went, I believe, in the...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I'd been planning on removing about a dozen old Japanese yews from the front of the house and putting in azaleas. Found the azaleas I wanted and thought I'd yank the yews with the F150...not! Might have worked if I'd had a pallet of concrete in the back. So.....got the deuce out of storage...

Any gen sets won at GL on 3/4/13 ?

Two very-low-hour MEP-804As went for 680 and 780, respectively. Killer deal, except for having to ship 'em from, gulp, Hawaii. MNight still have been worth it; don't know.

Nobody wants to insure my deuce!

Insurance availability varies from state to state. The same national insurer in one state will not insure large MVs in another state. State Farm is a good example. Some out-of-state stuff clearly is available...ex: Gulfway, Hagerty, and maybe others. Your most cogent advice regarding Md...

    Can't keep my boots on....

Whew! For what it's worth, I used the silicone boots when I re-worked the hubs two years ago. Boots are still tight...no off-road driving, no mudding, just ~6K hwy miles and a lot of sitting still.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Did the weekly fire up. Chased the lugs and installed two nearly new tires on the rearmost left quarter. Laid ground work to get the table saw, jointer, and planer out of the back and into a shop-like setting. Hopefully this truck will go from warehouse to runabout soon!
