I used something to paint my son's bedroom trim that was a blend of ultra pure white and black and probably a perfect Navy grey, but it was interior paint and picked off a color card. It was also Behr paint, which has proven itself to suck big time inside... I have no doubt it would peel before...
I can't say what SOP is on the bearings, but I'd think with tires that old, the grease in the hubs may not be much younger. I'd get everything completely cleaned, then coat and reassemble with new synthetic marine grease. I actually have to do that with an A3 axle soon, I figure starting over...
Very nice, I like all of them.
Nick, I 3rd the above, the wood looks great. I like how you mounted the bow stowage mounts lower, too.
I like the way the black looks. I'm thinking I may go with that. I think also, anything BUT carc makes these trailers look really good. Carc makes them look...
I'm thinking about painting one of my 101's semi-gloss black or dark blue (or other non-attention-grabbing color).
I stripped and painted one a flat/semi-gloss Olive green consumer/civilian paint and it came out great, but since I'm not towing it with an MV (yet), I don't really care too much...
Ah, I forgot about the bees. My last recovery (with the flip) was complicated by a couple busy wasp nests in the racks I had to remove. I thought I lost them on the 2+ hour drive home, but just noticed them still there and killed them a few days ago.
I really like that, looks like a good solution if you don't want/need brakes, or for an A1 with an A2's actuator mount. This would work out great for someone that's replacing the 8-lug axle with an electric brake axle, too.
I'm late to the party...
I think the part you're looking for is 10686 from Toledo. I've tried several different retailers, and none can (or will) get it from Toledo for less than the price of an entire actuator.
It *looks* like a direct-fit ball replacement for the lunette.
Angus, I know...
Are the early A3 beds galvanized steel or aluminum?
Were M101 bed's ever manufactured with aluminum?
I've seen varying weight specs on data plates, so figured it wasn't entirely unreasonable. Every A1 I've ever seen is unmistakably steel. The A2's and A3's flake off paint like they're...
Someone said it on this board once, you can pick up the cheap little crimp-on bullet connectors at Walmart and they fit just fine. I've used them for about a dozen connections now, and since they're not water tight, I wrap everything in rubberized plumbing tape.
Nice job, the rack looks good. Is that a canvas top on the ground in the last pic? It looks almost like you sized the custom racks to fit the top just down to the steel bed for max interior height.
What if you rotated the whole assembly 180 degress, and lowered it? IE the top of the tire is closer to the tow vehicle and the bottom is closer to the bed. The tire could then sit partially inside the drawbar and shorten/stiffen the pedestal. It also might make mounting and dismounting it easier.
I've used a couple internet forums, and I get more tired of hearing people tell other people to search, than I do of skipping a post I'm not interested in. I don't think it's that big of a deal, and the smart-a$$ replies are sometimes pretty funny. The forum would be pretty lame if no one added...
