I too also weighed restoring it verses bobbing it, or any other mods before placing my bid. But a 6x6 dump truck with a special cab in need of repairs is pretty much out of the question. Add to it the CDL needed ( I don’t want to go there) and commercial insurance ( I very much doubt I can...
That is the standard cab for the LVAD (Low Velocity AirDrop). I just don't know how much of it is there. I should get more pics and something of a drivetrain condition report over the weekend
Well, for good or bad, I'm the new owner of a M1094 LVAD. Sold as a 'parts vehicle', my intial plans are to bob it to a M1081 4x4 and possibly mock it up as a "War Pig". Another thought is to find a surplus cab and make it up as a camper, until I have it here, nothing is set in stone.
I'm here...
Being in Cal, you are really restricted on what year Pinz you can register here, typically up to '74, sometimes the DMV will slide a '75 through. No way you'll get a newer one registered. The TD's are the 716 and 718 and are a completely different animal. None are legal in Cal. Mine was...
Those were US military 718s... The Swiss sold a 718 Amb at auction a few years back... they never got into buying the 716 or 718 models..
Don't look for the influx of TDs as the 710/12s.... they just weren't made in the same quanitities, and not as popular with the militaries. Of the ones...
Mmm.. a new 4wheeler for $10 to $14k, or a possible 6k lb piece of scap iron? what a choice. Even if the trucks are run off road "as is" ( assumiming nothing wrong with them now, except being hacked and body parts stripped), replacement parts could drive you to the poor house. A set of doors and...
Holy Krap... there is as much about these 718s on forums as there are stories about Libya on the news.
They will never be legally registerable in the US, and not exportable... they do not meet EPA or DOT, and because they are already here, never qualify for the 25 year exemption for...
Well Bill, it's a double standard. If those trucks were in another country, and at least 25 years old, they would be legal to bring into the US, and registerable ( at present) in most states. But they're here and not registerable for the road.... if they came up for auction, I'd love to have...
****! Those are some old Pinzes:wink:
They're P90s... made around 1990 to '93
Bill, can you send me some hi res pics of those ?... they looks like they could some of those "short" wheelbase Pinzes I was telling you about.:jumpin::jumpin::jumpin:[thumbzup]
Scott.
I've only seen it in pics of Haffies with the missile systems, and really don't know more than that about them . They were Swiss Hafs, so I am not sure if it's factory or a Swiss mod. Does your truck have fuses, or circuit breakers?
Years ago, I did get several pics of the rollbar...
Well Bill,
Going strictly by memory, the 710/12 cardon shaft is 16" long (+/-). the cardon shaft in the 716/18 with a manual trans is 4+" longer, and with the ZF auto box is still almost 2" longer than the 710/12 cardon shaft. Knowing that the Pinz's manual trans have a flat tail plate, I would...
Hi Bill,
Scott at Expedition Import would be the one I would send you to for parts.
Don't bother with those manuals ( also, if you think the manuals are expensive, just wait to see part prices!). Go to this yahoo group and subscribe:

The part...
Bill, You're catching on. The 716 has a 94" WB. The 718 is 4" shorter ( +/-), and it is the difference of the length of the spacer between the diff and transfer case ( measure that and tell me). The central tube is longer on the 716/18. When I refer to 710/12 and 716/18, I am "comparing "...
Bill,
I can give you some insight into some of the "oddites" of the Pinz drivetrain, and the differences between the 710/12 and the 716/18.
If you haven't found out by now, the axle outputs on the diffs are offset. The right side is about 2" in front of the left. The 716/18 diff and front drive...
Popacom, I've been away from the SS forum for a while, and just came across this thread. It is indeed a 716 or 18 backbone. I've had a 710 and 712, and have had a 716 for 7 plus years. Needless to say, the inboard disc brakes were a mod, and the original swing axle diffs were locked into place...
It's been a few years since I last took my TD Pinz to the Mogfest at Calico, thought I'd share a few pics
In the last few years, I had brought the Supacat and Haflinger,
some of the "newer" Pinz owners only thought it existed in "photoshop"
Had to disspell those rumors:twisted:
I'm not sure what you're doing, but it sounds like you're installing the weatherstriping on the perimeter of the frame, and not the actual windshield gasket.I haven't looked a M35 but would assume that a hook tool ( cotter key extractor, carpet tool...) would be the the tool of choice. I've...
