Does anybody know exactly what these trucks were issued in the field for tools? I have never even seen a pic of a military jack for the deuces or any other tools that would have been issued with the trucks. I wonder what happoned to the thousands of tools that were on these trucks, since...
That grummet can be ordered from memphis equipment, that is where I got mine from. The reason they have that is to plug that hole in the tank, so gas does not come in through that hole and bypass the filter elements on the sides of the fuel pump hanger. Then when you remove the hanger, there...
Was just wondering how you guys go about changing tires on the deuces. Has anyone had any trouble with the split rims on their deuces. I am always hearing horror stories about people getting killed by split rims even when they are doing things the right way. The ring flies off and dismembers...
I'm suprised there is not a forum about safety of operating these vehicles. For many people this is the largest vehicle they have operated and they are not always sure of proper safety while operating them. Military Drivers are schooled on the proper safety of operating and maintaining these...
just wondering if anyone else is/has had trouble with their drain plugs leaking? Is anyone using anything different than the copper gasket they normally use? I have mine tightened up pretty good and they are still leaking so i'm thinking about going to something else. My output shaft on the...
That hole in the hood is for a heater air intake. These heater kits are different than the newer ones and very hard to find. As for the parts, I have some of the things you would need, but I am in SD and that is way too far for you to drive and shipping would be bad too. If you can find him...
I know there has been some discussion about this already. I want to build a medium tow bar for my deuce and was wondering if anyone has the dimensions, thickness of metal used, ect. There was one guy awhile ago who was going to do this, but I don't know if he actually got one made. Some pics...
Not sure what to tell you about that one, any rubber you will find now days will not be too fresh for those trucks. I wish you good luck and i'll keep my ears open if I can think of anyone who could help. Would really like to see some more pics of your truck though, it looked nice from those...
If I were you, I would just go to Napa or some other automotive supply and see if they can sell that rubber block to you. You could then just shape it as needed rather than spending money on a whole new bracket. That is what I do with a lot of my gaskets and things like that to save $$$$$...
Mike,
The reason the parts are more easily available in canada is because the Canadian military used the M135 up until the late 80's(possibly early 90s). The US used the M211 in vietnam and some National Guard units after that, but they were replaced in the 70s with the M35 series. That...
What are you guys using for white paint for the stars and markings on your trucks. Does anybody know what is compatable with gillespie? Wonder why they don't have their own color for white markings?
My headlights don't work on my deuce and I looked into the bulb and saw one of the two filiments is burned out. You would think that the lights would still work in either high or low beam? Is there a cheaper place to get sealed beam 24v lights other than ebay. I also am looking for the...
How would you guys rate the red oxide primer that gillespie sells. Is it as good as rustoleum primer? Has anyone used it and had bad results with it? I have been stripping off yellow paint from my deuce and then I am going to sand the parts and was planning to shoot them with probably 3 coats...
I am trying to figure out what's wrong with my transmission and was wondering if anyone here has fixed them before. When I hook my pressure gauge up to the tranny it reads about 40psi, it should be at 95-110. I suspect it's the front oil pump, but I would like to know if anyone else has an...
