    Glossy CUCVs

I'd bet that all of those trucks were Air Force... we had a couple of 80's Dodge utility trucks in that same paint scheme. Later, Joe

    Starter not turning over

Sounds like something in the 24V buss... check the 24V fuse in the fusebox. Later, Joe

    NO Brake lights

Did you check for voltage at the brake switch plug? The orange wire should have 12V on it, if it doesn't then the fuse is most likely your problem. Did you use your hazard lights lately? Do they work? If the first answer is yes, turn them on and off again and try wiggling the switch, the...

1800 miles, no license plates, half a pack of smokes...

In Colorado a temp tag is only $20, but you have to have insurance and a verified VIN inspection performed by a Colorado licensed dealer or certified peace officer for all out of state vehicles. Later, Joe

TH400 shift speeds? And i have this momentary wobble that goes away...

A steering damper just masks other problems... check all of the wearables in the front end first. Kingpin wear is the most common problem for the 60, but there's also the possibility of tie rod wear and a slightly lesser possibility of loose wheel bearings. On the shifting issue, those sound...

    Colorado to OKC

Got my dates together... I'm leaving Colorado on the morning of the 22nd. Anybody need anything moved around those dates? It would really help me out. Thanks, Joe

    steering column

As far as I know, the only difference would be if the tilt column has cruise control and delay wipers or not so the plugs for the cruise wouldn't be hooked up and the wipers may not plug in. Later, Joe

Did anyone catch what the 813s went for this week 9/7?

I'd like to get one of the two NASA UH-1Hs that are up right now... but my pockets aren't that deep... LOL Later, Joe

Electrical problem wipers, lights, fuel guage

There is a ground under the dash on the driver's side at about the same level as the generator lights on the kick panel, if it is broken/unhooked all kinds of strange electrical things start happening in the dash. It is almost certainly a ground issue. Later, Joe

1800 miles, no license plates, half a pack of smokes...

Bruce, how does someone driving an insured vehicle without tags impact you? Seriously? And to answer your question, yes, I would drive a Cadillac hundreds of miles with no tags if it was a similar situation. I drove a 1979 F350 Dually 4x4 Supercab from New Mexico to South Carolina after...

    M1009 with 15k miles won't start

You can replace what at NAPA? The glow plug controller card? Please provide a part number for the card if that's the case because as far as I know, the card is unavailable except as surplus. Later, Joe

1800 miles, no license plates, half a pack of smokes...

You know, I'm really tired of people getting all high and mighty about what someone else did. If he had insurance on it and was willing to take responsibility for the consequences of driving an unlicensed vehicle if he was cited, that's his own business. You rolls the dice and you takes your...

    Colorado to Reno, NV

It's safe where it's at right now thanks to Mutt_Kahuna... It's just getting it from there to here that's the issue. Wish I'd have known you were in town, I would have swung by to say hi... LOL Later, Joe

News: USAA will start insuring deuces and other MVs in the fall

USAA has an upper limit of I think 12K lbs empty weight on their personal policies. You have to talk to their commercial side for anything over that, but for some reason the commercial side doesn't like MVs for personal use. Hopefully they'll cover 5 tons since that's what most of my green...

    cucv won't start

Ok, I'm going to assume that the Fire Department changed to a 12V system which means that the starter has been swapped to a 12V one. To hook up the batteries properly for a 12V system instead of a 24V system, do the following: 1) With no cables attached to the batteries make an interconnection...

    Colorado to Reno, NV

I'm trying to get the logistics of getting my 1031 from Reno NV back to CO. I can't really afford to pay anyone to get it back here, so I'll probably be going to get it if I can find a load to take out and cover most of the fuel cost. I have a Dodge Cummins and 14k capacity 20' trailer so I can...

    Colorado to OKC

Running empty Colorado to OKC I'm looking to head down to OKC to pick up a CUCV sometime this month and was wondering if anyone needed anything moved in that direction. My time is flexible so if there's anything in the I-70 or I-40 corridor that you need moved, let me know. I can also bring...
