You can turn it over using a breaker bar and socket on the pulley right below the power steering pump. I don't remember what size socket. You don't need to pull the injectors.
I had the same problem with my M1028A2. If the vacuum pump is working; by pass the vacuum regulator at the injection pump. If it shifts, it's the regulator. Note that it may shift first to third very quickly, but you will know the transmission is shifting.
Good luck.
CUCV85, the oil filter adapter is a Baldwin OB1368. There are 2 small gaskets in the kit; I used the thick gasket between the filter base and the adapter. The filter is a WIX 51970.
Someone was selling adapter kits on SS too.
What Kenny said.
I have done the Permanent Antique tag four times. Two of them are on 1985 year trucks, a M1028A2 and M929. I also carry a copy of the statute in case I get stopped, mostly because it also says I'm not required to display the tag and I don't expect LEOs to know every statute...
For anti-freeze go with an ELC. I am using Rotella ELC in all my diesels. No SCAs to worry about and approved for Cummins. I think Fleetguard is the same thing. You can get concentrate or 50/50. Flush a couple of times with distilled water after your initial flush.
If you have a bore scope, you can look around for it in the engine and through the drain plug. If it made it all the way to the pan, I wouldn't worry about it. There's a screen on the pickup and it's not going anywhere.
I would be more concerned if it's somewhere that it could get into the...
Especially when you have people drinking with access to diesel fuel!!!!
If I drive the M929, I will bring a load of wood. My brother-in-law in Macon county says he will load it up for me! [thumbzup]
I drove about 850 miles one way in a M929. I'm not sure I would look forward to 4,200 miles... But you are right, it will be an adventure. And it sounds like you have a good contingency plan.
Good luck!
Sorry it took me so long to see this CUCV85. I'll look at the box for the spin on adapter next time I'm over to the warehouse and let you know.
I was looking at trucks from DE and they looked pretty good. Glad your brother had a trouble free recovery.
Cheers
That tow bar should work if you have the proper feet to attach to the shackle mounts on the towed vehicle. You don't need the spreader bar. I don't know where you can get the 1" pins.
Running the front tire pressure up to maximum is supposed to help the towed vehicle track better. If the...
You have already received some good advice TacticalDoc. I would add; make sure you air up the front tires to max. pressure and the tow bar legs should be all the way in (short) if towing from the bumper shackle mounts. There is a TM for the tow bar that you can review if you haven't used one...
