No problem here, if I wasn't one of the guys stuck in the middle of this, I'd probably be looking for the silver lining as well. And some of us (with a big finger pointed at myself) made posts I'm sure we regret, written in the heat of anger right after getting the bad news.
I was (still am)...
Just another thought, mostly pulled out of my a$$, but pops into my head and rattles around once in a while. I've had opportunity to talk to currently active military personnel who tald me that many, many military vehicles have been, and are still being, sold to certain foreign powers. (hint...
It could very well be a hijacked account...there isn't a history of military items for sale. Someone takes pics they find on the web, make an ad using a jacked account, and collect the money.
If its real, then this guy is on crack. He seems to be asking as much for an unknown A3 as what you...
Thanks guys. I don't mean to come off as whiny or overly impatient. Its just a bad time right now, and besides the obvious financial issues, I was hoping to get into MVs as a hobby as well as make a couple dollars to help with whats going on, as well as to help support the hobby a bit. The...
I'm going to hold off from any recovery attempts for now. Unless I saw something in writing that specifically said I'd get reimbursed for realistic transportation costs (and I mean realistic to me, not whatever the govt. decides its worth), then I don't want to take a chance. Not to mention...
When I bought the trucks I was employed. Now I'm not, and neither is my wife. Although she has an interview Monday. I've been out of work for over a month, and even my unemployment was denied. Thats not gl's fault, just bad timing...and thats what I'm dealing with.
Jim
Then when they come knocking on your door and decide they want their truck back, you are out the recovery expenses. And in my case, thats a combined recovery distance of 1500+ miles.
I might consider doing just that if the base was an hour away.
Edit: Then again, we would be in violation of...
Geez, I would have paid you to get mine out of Ft. Knox....too late now...lol.
But you never know when/if you will get the nastygram from the Govt. wanting you to take all those trucks back for inspection.
Jim
Incriminated in what? As I said, there is nothing illegal about it. I have to keep track of who I sell the truck to, and they must sign a form. Beyond that, its out of my hands.
And like I said, its nothing I would be able to do anyway, both trucks need to get sold ASAP. Its getting cold here...
Ya think? lol. Think about this: GL gets a 10% premium from every sale. The opening bid for sales are now $150, so they will get at least $15 from every sale. I'm sure they get paid by the govt. directly for what they do as well. Now, over head. Every GL "office" I've ever been to was on base...
My state of N.H. doesn't require that I keep any record of the buyer of any vehicle I sell. I sign the back of the title, and its no longer mine. GL rules only require that if I sell a truck, I keep track of the buyer.
If I were to sell my truck, and keep track of the buyer, I'm 100% legal. If...
Hey, I'm agreeing 100%. Just saying that its no one branch thats at fault.
I can understand it if they pulled this before giving us our Invoices, but AFTER? They didn't have a clue about this 2 days ago, before clearing me? (and the others who are in the same position). Hell, they didn't have...
Any who, exactly, would we sue? GL for their frequent screwups on paperwork, and long waits before the EUC goes to Battle Creek? The Govt. for the very long waits at Battle Creek, cancellations for no reason, requiring EUCs for many items that shouldn't need them, and now this mess? Or the govt...
Yea, you'll never get a typical wheeled vehicle to float on snow. The closest thing to an exception was when I used to 'wheel Suzuki Samurais in the winter. I would air down to zero PSI (yup, NO air pressure) with 33" tires. With a 2000 lb. vehicle, it would kind of float, and I've gone...
Its over 400 miles away. Thats a long way, to take a chance. Plus that truck is the one I really don't care if I lose. The one in Kentucky is the one I've been drooling over.
Jim
Thanks for giving me this warm, fuzzy feeling...oh wait, thats an urge to puke. The better of my 2 trucks actually has the old style gauge cluster, someone said it looked like the old gassers. No tach in the main cluster, the tach is under the dash.
Jim
Dude you suck....lol. O.K., I'm just jealous of your luck! Funny thing is, after the long wait for my invoice and the ever-changing Terms & Conditions, I scheduled the recovery for my N.J. truck for first thing Monday morning, thinking there might be the slightest chance something could change...
I just got off the phone with GL. They could tell me absolutely NOTHING....shocker there. The government put the hold on the trucks. They weren't able to give me any idea how long this will take, or what will happen if they find anything wrong with the trucks. Of course when I mentioned the...
