    All you alternator gurus'

I'm ready to replace my going bad alternator. It's number 1 that's going bad, as that light is lit, even though the 12volt is holding voltage thus far. What I'm wondering is if a regular alternator can be used for that side as that one grounds to the engine block anyhow? Then I could get the...

How to: Wire a civvy dash

Oil pressures fine. It was just the wrong sensor / sending unit. I also changed out the water temp one for one for a gauge. Not sure it really mattered, but figured "what the hey". Then I put a couple indicator bulbs, actually license plate lights, in the radio knob holes and wired each...

How to: Wire a civvy dash

I went out and bought a new sending unit, to fit an 86 Blazer diesel. Maybe it is wrong. I thought I had the whole thing figured out. Power in, one terminal to ground, and another to a sender unit that is fully grounded causing the gauge to be fully off, and as it loses ground it sweeps. A...

    CUCV Signal Problems

A lot of flasher issues come down to bad bulb connections. Try pushing on each bulb while the flasher is on and see what happens.

How to: Wire a civvy dash

A very handy tool to remove and reinstall the little terminals in the plug is a small but long finishing nail stuck into the end of a dowel. It inserts into the area behind each wire terminal to free it and then also works to re-extend the tab that holds the plug in. I went one step further...

    melting dash light fuse

That would kinda suck, but at least be an easy fix. I just went through my heater fan circuit. The resister connection prongs were corroded and I ran a ground from the fan housing "just in case" Didn't have issues, but didn't want any either. I'm not sure about this light issue. I'm going...

    melting dash light fuse

I keep finding the dash light fuse melted, but not blown. Wondering why it's drawing so much amps?

    Spare tire on front

My thought is to rig a bolt down carrier to the bed of the cargo area and then a false floor over it. Hoping the height works out about even with the folded seat and then carrying cargo would be a snap. Under the false floor would also be some storage space around the spare. I don't really...

Where can I find a new engine harness?

Nothing wrong with a solder gun and some shrink tubing either. Just be careful to include any fuseable links, resistors or what have you.

    CUCV Seat Covers

I know it's not what your talking about, but green wool army blankets, with the "US" showing, make a fine cover to just lay over a seat. I used two on my bench seat, one for the top, one for the bottom, space in between for the belts. Two "US"'s proudly showing.

    Switching speedo's

Saves fuel too. The less the tires touch the ground, the less friction resistance, the less fuel burned, right? Also, the faster you get there the less time spent burning fuel, ie: "Hurry up, we're running on empty!".

I was wondering if I could put a 85 mph face on a 120 speedo and have it be accurate.
