Blue data plate doesn't really mean much. U-joint style axles were in the later model trucks, or in trucks that had axles replaced with later production axles. I do not know exactly when the u-joint axles were introduced into production, but I would like to know as well.
Take a look at the blowoff valve on the bottom of the air dryer. They have a habit of sticking partly open and bleeding air quietly, or sticking open all the way and not allowing air to build at all.
I bet the very bottom of a liner crumbled and a crack ran up the liner from there. That would be why you have the coolant leak without having eaten a ring. It is interesting though because if that was the case I would think that the combustion pressure would have pressurized the cooling system...
It shouldn't. Think of it like paint thinner, once you mix it it may evaporate out, but it won't separate. Petroleum based solvent in a petroleum based lubricant.
So I'm assuming that the reason farm tanks are the worst because they always have a lot of air space in them and they sit for long periods of time? Could they be improved by adding some kind of circulating system with a filter inline?
We still have UH-1s fly over here every once in a while. Also get Apaches, Blackhawks, Chinooks, various fighter planes. It's always cool when the helos fly over at low altitude once I figure out that they aren't coming to visit me!
I won five deuces out of RRAD recently. One had all fluids in good shape, one was two quarts low on motor oil, one had no coolant but all other fluids, one was two gallons of motor oil low and had a drained transfer case, and one had a drained engine and drained transfer case. CHECK ALL FLUIDS...
You can replace the parts that are missing with readily available parts from an LDT motor you know. Free up the rusted cylinder with a transmission fluid soak, and don't worry about the turbo. You can't really utilize that turbo when you put the motor in a deuce anyway. What kind of transmission...
It's possible that they may be made in Korea. I would trust Korean made over Chinese made any day, but would still rather have American made as well when it comes to brake components.
These headlights are going to be like cell phones soon. You get the newest cool lights and seems like no long after there is already a new improved version out. Luckily I've had my old ones for a while so I've gotten some use out of them.
