When I was picking up a truck at Fort Knox a local UPS store guy was there and he seemed to be on a first name basis with the gl people. He also said he regularly picks stuff up an ships it for people. Check the yellow pages for a UPS store near the base. They may provide the same service.
I have a handing little unit that attached to a wire then you use a pencil type receiver to follow the circuit. Having said that the easier way to do it is to find correct terminal on the printed circuit board in the dash and run a continuity tester between the terminal at the alternator and the...
RE: I am Back from LA
I love the car ads you see that says the vehicle in question runs good then they have won't start. I have seen a few of them over the years. "Yea, she ran great right up to the point that she would not start."
Thanks Mike. I used to be a mechanic more than a few years back but the diesels have not been my cup of tea until now. I am slowing learning the system.
I am learning more and more myself. First off, I have been told that these engines will not start without help from the glow plugs. The system on the cucv is different from the civy set up so that they can be jumped with 24 volt vehicles. When the system messes up people bypass the...

Good luck.

Some may remember my post asking about the glow plug temp sensor. I found that at around 60 degrees the resistance was at 5000 ohms and it went down to 300 ohms after idling for about 20-30 minutes.
Before putting in my new to me glow plug controller board I replaced the relay. I noticed that...
There should also be an small adaptor between the trans and the line. This is so that the occasional cross threading does not mean anything more than changing the fittings. They are meant to be left in the trans unless they are damaged. You may have inadvertantly lossened the fittings. Loosen...
There are two sensors. One is for the idiot light that is basically an on off type of sensor when the engine gets to hot it completes the circuit and the light goes on. This is the one on the front of the driver's side head. It is actually mounted from the side in front of the exhaust maniford...
I almost forgot. When in the field we would cover the headlights and bumpers with old sandbags to obscure the numbers so the enemy could not get intel on our strength or movements. When we could not fit a sandbag over the numbers and the stencils we would just smear mud on the bumper numbers and...
My unit during the gulf war was as follows
