Tallahassee tends to add fees that they can't articulate. The fee schedule is very precise so watch what they do. The coding in the software doesn't work with MVs too well, that's why we have to deal with the clowns in Tallahassee. Also, maintain a copy of FSS 320.086 in the vehicle. Many...
MCSC BAR could be the equivalent to MCLB Barstow today. If that is in fact what it is, the engine went through there 3-72. MCLB is Marine Corps Logistics Base I believe!
Afterglow?? How long does it do this? http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?62477-GP-Module-Theory-of-Operation Watch the video for quick answer.
You may have to do a little digging on this one but I think it's a Mazda 939 starter that bolts in with minor nose work. Might be best to use "military standard" starter to locate the info. Not much chat about the mil standard engines lately. FYI the 4A032, 2A042 and 4A084 all use the same...
My doors do lock. It didn't come with a key but I was able to get one on ebay and it worked. My back doors need some love to get the lock working but I do have a padlock and a hasp there. 319 turned me on to a company that still has the lock cylinders. I need to see if I can find it. I also...
I don't know if it was a field mod or what but all of the 887s I've seen had the battery in that well where your fuel filler is. When I got my body from Speddmon, I elected to take it without the welder/genset. Attached is my solution for that space.
I can only help a little on this one. If you look at your box right in front of the welder, you will see where that area has been modified to clear the fuel tank on the CUCV. When this area was in it's designed shape, that is where the battery for the welder was. It was never tied into the...
All this M275 stuff reminds me of a funny story. Circa 2003 I was taking a little trip from Miami to Cinci OH driving my M275A2. I stopped at a truck stop on the section of highway in Knoxville TN where I-75 and I-40 share the same road. Fellow walks up and says "Nice 5 ton". I thank him then...
Oh, for that you can simply use an 1156 in the brake turn position and a 97 in the running lights position to get 12V functionality. We've been using these for a long time when towing the M101 series with M880 or CUCV variants as both are 12V and both are single contact.
Even though posted, it's interesting. Did you go straight from NA to the Schwitzer turbo or was the truck previously turboed? Any performance gains to be had. EGTs and PSI?
Check the right side rear engine mount near the right front shock. If it's hot riveted, the truck was not a gasser at any time. My old 53 Stude was M30708. Check post 19 in this thread http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?3910-Deuce-Wrecker-Engine-Swap&highlight=M108A2 to see the...
Congrats on your successful recovery. I'd like to offer one option and one observation regarding trailer lights. Observation, less expensive towing lights are fair weather friends. When exposed to extreme temps or adverse conditions, they show their value. I'd always either built them or...
