Finding the "good" wheel cylinder kits...

It's really worth your time to hunt down kits with the sheet metal cup that fits on the spring end. Wheel cylinders are much less leak prone with them. Try small independent auto parts places for some new old stock.

    Generator purchase advice

I would suggest looking into some propane heat. We have that and were fine. A camp stove is also handy for outages. You can then use a smaller generator to carry the basics. You can carry smaller ones to the repair shop. Just my suggestion..... TomC

That is a very nice M37! Best of luck with it.

    Engaging Front Axle

Go underneath the truck and look at the f. driveshaft. Is it connected at both ends? Shake it and listen, feel for excess clunking. If all's well there, drive off pavement and engage the front axle. Try from a stop first and if no clattering or grinding, you should be good to go. Try not to...

    M37 Hesitation

You will have to take the top off the carb. Check the cup on the accelerator pump that it is not undersized for the hole it fits in. The accelerator pump is vacuum operated as I remember, that was long ago. There may be different holes for the linkage to obtain more volume, this is all inside...

    Mep 803a rebuild

I second the conservative approach. Soak longer and be patient. You may want heat the piston tops briefly. It may draw penetrating oil in as they cool.

    5 ton headlight connector type

For economy, you can get reflector assemblies that take H4 bulbs. You then use 24v H4 bulbs. That was my usage in my M37

Looking for a MEP805A fuel level sending unit plus some detective work!

Harbour Freight has a hand operated pump with hoses for around $10. I use mine to pump out automatic transmission fluid and such. I did have to replace the "o" ring as the fit was loose. TomC

    Wheres all the M35A2's at??

Just south of Dallas, Vintagemilitaryvehicles has a large number of M35a2 trucks. The bad news is they are Texas Forest Service surplus. His prices seem too high for what they are. Or are not. He also has 5 tons and other assorted military vehicles. TomC

6.2 Piston Rings: Sealed Power or Perfect Circle (Mahle) ?

The price difference may be the difference between chrome faced rings vs cast iron rings, I don't know. The chrome faced rings should have a longer life in hard service but are particular about bore preparation and break-in. I have had very good luck using cast iron rings for my engine rebuilds...

    M38A1 Engine Troubleshooting

That method of setting the timing will get you by just fine. If you get ping on acceleration, retard the timing by trial until ping goes away. For a timing light adapter, use some short solid core ignition wire and an alligator clip to work with the waterproof ignition system.
