    Oil Filter Center Bolt Gasket

Get a red fiber gasket of the correct size from a good auto parts store.

    Clutch

The adjustable fingers are on a Long type pressure plate. They are just to adjust for equal throwout bearing contact. Like was said, new clutch assembly time.

57 Continental R6602 Recommended Fuel Octane

Those engines will run on low octane fuel just fine. Avoid ethanol in the fuel unless you drive it enough to use up a tank full every few days. I'm not sure of that time frame.

Gaskets -- do you make them or source them already made?

I would make them in the interest of saving ordering time and I am cash challenged. One can use grocery bags with a coat of gasket dressing, not rtv. For thicker material, get a roll of gasket material from auto parts store.

    Diesel Fuel Additive

I used biocide in my tractor. I still had to drain the tank, clean the strainer. I used the contaminated fuel for brush control. I treated fuel drum, all seems ok. Did put a new fuel filter on the tractor.

M342/M35 trunnion and suspension repair "Watch Wes Work"

That was a difficult job. I have to hand it to Wes. He has some real crap to repair and he is pretty upbeat about it. The rust alone would make me throw wrenches across the shop in my younger years.

    Removing, rebuilding, reinstalling Hydraulic Head

Hiring out repairs is well and good IF the job is done correctly. I wouldn't think much expertise is out there for repairs on these trucks. So many resources are out there (and on this forum) so to educate yourself . The job will turn out better in most cases because you care about getting it...

How Old Was Your MV When You Got It

My 1962 M37B was 12 years old when I bought it out of Fort Hood. Two others were part of the lot.

Will an 8.3 cummins create too much torque for the M35 driveline?

And that is a really nice setup! Looks like excellent workmanship from what I could see of it. TomC

    lsmft

I'm glad to hear you got it to a place where you can work on it. Clutches can be the great unknown on a new to you vehicle. When all is done, stay on top of the clutch adjustment with the correct amount of free play. Don't let anyone who drives it slip the clutch instead of selecting the...

    M1009 Rear End Noise

I think it is a Detroit Locker that makes a Audible clicking noise upon turning a corner.

    Other Ojjsdfg

You would be better to have a good credit card and a phone to look up big truck towing services. From my experience, you may wait a long time for a road service outfit. Flats can be done by a tire business with a mobile unit. just my 2 cents worth.

    Brakes shoes slow release

I does happen, more pressure when applying brakes overcomes the restriction. I've had it happen on 2 different vehicles. TomC

1942 gmc ckw 353 close cab w/Awning: Looking for pics and info on awning

Good photos of kitchen truck awnings in "Army Food and Messing" book. Pretty complete write-up on truck and equipment. Amazon usually has copies.

Don't overlook the water distribution tube . Replace it if needed.

    30 mph tops

Also check ignition timing. Check for dragging brakes and that parking brake is off.

    MTVR underpowered with trailer

Oh for a manual transmission. That sort of problem shows how much support is available on this site! TomC

    M51 Clutch adjustment

The clutch disk may have shed the lining and wedded up. I've seen that happen. Best pull the clutch and replace parts. Don't forget the pilot bearing.

    M816 Wrecker Clutch Adjustment?

Normal procedure after clutch replacement is to adjust the freeplay. The operator's T.M. should have the procedure.
