Draft Tube
Ever see the irony of a DRAFT tube on a MV? Anyhow, why not run a tube over to the bottom of the passenger side wheel/fender. Anything it spit out would be washed off by water and its a lot shorter than the back of the truck. Always point it down so it drains. Just a thought.
Inspired by what I recently read in the Forum I set out to see if I could find the hood numbers on my truck. I started (drives side hood) sanding through the sand color and saw forest green and then dark OD and them back to forest green then primer then metal. I didn't see even the hint of...
Nice looking truck
You have done a top notch job restoring the truck! If anyone is interested in a truck similar to this there is one sitting on an old car lot south of Columbus, Ohio. It needs a lot of TLC but from the road it looks as if its all there. From time to time it has had a...
winch parts
About a year ago I bought the complete linkage and lever from Army Surplus of Dodge City (620) 227-7441. I just looked in the latest copy of Military Vehicles Magazine and they are still advertising winch parts. If you know of anyone who needs a top bracket for M35, bolts to...
Shift-less
I have been told that all you need to tow an M35 is (so far as drive train is considered ) is to place the selector of the transfer case in neutral. I can see where turning might be improved by removing the shaft between 1 and 2 axle. Maybe even the front. But it doesn't damage...
Air brakes?
Those look like air brake valves. Does your deuce have air brakes rather than air over hydraulic brakes? Very nice restoration job. Nice shop and Jeep. Thanks for the pictures
MV at Car Show
I took mine to a car show last year and people loved it. It stood out as the one vehicle kids and anyone else could touch. While the car owners hid behind ropes and barriers with polishing cloth in hand I let anyone who wanted to climb behind the wheel and have their picture...
oil pressure
Electric gauges (and cheap mechanical gauges) begin to loose their accuracy as they age due to poor connections, low voltages, mismatched sending units and gauges. Good quality mechanical gauge is the best indicator.
Well I'll be
Darned if it wasn't there and it works. Something new (besides the locomotive air horns) for the Memorial Day Parade this year. Thanks for the instructions and advice. The SS Board is like taking a correspondence course about deuce ownership. Thankfully no tests.
turn signals
Thank you, I'll try the tips you mentioned. Are green lens available at auto parts stores? I am seriously considering the headlight upgrade mentioned in a different posting. Any advancements on the spin-on oil filters?
The little light goes on then off then on then off
The light on my turn signal works, but I have yet to discover that you can pull something out for four-way flashers. The dash lights come on but boy is it hard to see the insturments at night. Is there a reostat? I use a flash light to...
turbo problem
I agree with Crane truck. If the nozzle is just dumping fuel into the intake it wouldn't atomize properly and thus wouldn't burn well at all (fuel smell from liquid exiting stack) and might just pass right through for the most part. Abundance of fuel would tend to make truck...
smoke
Any chance the air filter is very dirty or plugged? This would result in smoke when accelerating (although it would seem as if it should be black) and no boost as the turbo would be starved for air. Take the filter out and drive it (only very short period of time) and see if that...
dripping oil
Check to see if there is a breather on the transfer case. It might be plugged and any pressure built up in the transfer case is exiting out the un-pressurized side of the front axle selector carrying gear lube with it. The switch is quite a bit higher than the transfer case and...

White smoke
Do you see this smoke after you have driven the truck some distance? You might be actually seeing steam from rain water that has gotten in the stack or from moisture (a normal product of combustion) that condensed in the exhaust pipe. Unless you drive the truck some distance...
Engine won't shut off
Again I would advise that you look for a kinked or blocked fuel return line (also check the other things the others have advised as well). Especially since you say the engine was changed (did the old motor do the same thing) and the problem occurs after the motor warms...
won't stop
I agree with the last post. If that doesn't do it, did the pump run very long or did you hit the button as soon as you flipped the switch? Might possibly be a sign of pressure build up. I did a quick look through the maintenance manuals on CD and I didn't see anything about a...
