Thanks for all the kind words guys. It's definately been a learning experience and has helped me to fine tune my skills. Did have one fellow, after hearing my description of my truck, tell me I was incapable of doing a project like this without professional help.
What BS; Heck, I've known I've...
No electrical guy either but I'd say the strips are power distribution for various systems. Running into the wiper motor looks like three inline condensers, possibly for electrical noise suppression for comm gear.
Larger turbine housing makes for lower air velocities and shaft RPMs through the turbine and compressor sides. Small housings get the charge air and exhaust gas speeds up around supersonic and along with blade tip speed, all that air through small openings makes for the whistle. As a general...
Finally saw some sunshine and decided to tinker with the project truck for a bit. Got out my Fisher-Price My Little Press Brake and bent up the skid plate. Now laying out the support brackets for same. Also started on the fenders and splash guards. Gee, this thing is looking more and more like a...
Generator or alternator? The small wire is usually the field lead which has to be energized, either through the regulator or off the run side of the switch, to make it all work.
My two cents worth.
Had a clearance problem with the rear fenders on the baby HEMTT. Those taillight brackets can be swapped side for side or turned upside down or both. That might help you out.
Though the Michelins have the chevron tread, the military views them as non-directional. Some of the Goodyear ATs had sidewall problems in the form of radial cracking that runs parallel to the bead about an inch or so out from the wheel bead flange. You might want to look for signs of that and...
If you have access to one; a place that sells nothing but lightbulbs can probably fix you up. The 623s are a double 12vdc filament bulb wired to share the 24vdc. Never used the 303Xs but the Sylvania spec sheet rates them at only 500hrs. Both are the bayonet, single contact base type - same as a 67.
Don't forget the up-slope hood (higher in the front than in the back) with side panels cut to match, and the aircleaner assembly outside on the right side front fender.
If you're talking about a yellow square with one quarter (corner) red; that's a "delineation plate". Not sure who has them now that Rick Larson has quit putting them out. If you mean a yellow background with red lettering sticker that says "CONVOY"; I'd talk to our very own Polverone, who is a...
Pretty straight forward here on the west coast too. Smog pollution standards are a concern here with anything over 25 years old or diesel being exempt. Tracked vehicles, road cleats or not, are frowned upon because of road damage. Plus, there's the concerns of the Feds with ANY armored vehicles...
