To confirm your diagnosis, ya kinda gotta be there and be "hands on".
The fuel system would be the first place i'd start, sounds like you are on the right track. If you suspect the aftermarket primary, you could bypass it and see how it runs, bet, if there is junk in your tank, removing the...
Hey guys,
Getting another vehicle up and running at the Museum. We've been hitting on it for a bit, but I have been overwhelmed by the kids activities and out of town visitors so I have been neglecting my duties for 6 weeks or so. It started by attempting to locate the wing bearings for the...
Mr Waller, you do that and i'll be the next one to do it! Think about it guys, it can happen ANYTIME...even if you have new wheel cyls! I have been tossing this around for a bit with Craig from the Museum. It would benefit all of us if there were a kit to convert these pigs! There is a dude on...
I worked for Kawasaki in the early 80's. There were several military version bikes and trikes. The KLT was a big, heavy pig and it was militarized, the KLR 250 and 600 and the KZ1000P was also militarized...never saw one, but we had the microfiche on them.

If it stays at the "F" with the power off, the gauge is junk. If it slams over to "F" when it is powered up, could be a failed sender, a short to ground in the circuit, a poor connection..Wrecker is right, these gauges lie big time!
Old style will have what looks like a flat button head in the above mentioned spots. They are like on a car, a pin and keeper. If you have the new style hardware, you'll see 5/16 nuts in the above spots.
In the TM section, there is a manual for the AN/VRC 3900. That is where the behind the cab mount is listed. Mine is there as well, it is a bit tall, it hits overpasses if not tied down.
