The last deuce I bought (fort sill) had dead batteries, so mkcoen and I swapped them out at Fort Sill and drove all the way back (500 miles!)
Every time I start the truck, I flip the switch get a low-pitched air buzzer noise (not the normal noise, but a noise that sounds like the batteries are...
So you hire people to take care of problems. Or lose business.
I'm convinced GL doesn't do nearly as good as it could if it had better customer service.
Some people don't bid as much (or at all) because they don't like the risk of dealing with GL. Not just the risk of buying used items but...
This is some serious horse****... but not all that surprising.
sometimes I think the only reason you can still get some good deals on GL is because of the degree of risk entailed with dealing with a company with such lousy customer service/relations.
Yep. Nothing wrong with that, either.
My favorite deuce, the one I've put the most work into, is not for sale... unless someone wants to pay me stupid money for it.
If you go inspect something before the end of the sale, and document it, you can get out from under it if something is wrong/different between the time you looked at it and the time you go to pick it up.
Take pictures before. Take a camera with you when you go to pick it up. If it has damage...
Diesel weighs more like 7 pounds per gallon, I think. The tank weighs 390 pounds.
Call it 4600 pounds, when full. Minus whatever the bed would have added.
Hm. I'll keep an eye out for an M200 as well. Thanks for all the replies, guys.
Goldneagle: That's a bit overkill for what I need, I...
I know they won't fit in the bed of the 105, but I'm wondering if the bed could be taken off and the tank skids mounted directly to the frame?
Has anyone done this or something like it? I'm not married to the idea of putting it on a 105, but the price on 105s is certainly very cheap right now...
I wouldn't spend money to add a turbo to an LD-465
You're looking at a difference of like 4 horsepower, I think.
I've been wondering if rather than the aftermarket spin on oil filters... why not rig up an oil pump that runs off the battery? Close the switch 5 or 10 seconds before you start...
Judging by what some people in the propane business and other truck-related businesses, it sounds like no one is 100% legal when it comes to DOT rules.
Your state might have a noncommercial farm use CDL. I know Texas does. Delaware, too.
I think those get you past the 26000 gvw limit. But you are theoretically limited on how you can use it, where you can go with it, depending on your State's laws.
I've got one. A batteryminder. It appears to be working, but gosh dern is it slow. I've got it on a pair that read almost 11 now after sitting off the charger for 24 hours. But that's after being on the batteryminder for over a month.
eta: I would not recommend doing the drop thing from a...
Sorry, meant to say 105s. The big ones. 5600 pounds or something for the two of them. Weight balancing wasn't such an issue, but the height of the trailers vs the truck was.
I towed a couple of 101s back home (stacked) with a 1/2 ton silverado. I wouldn't recommend it, even though it was theoretically within the max towing limit of the truck.
I like the way you unstacked them with the forklift. 8)
I know Keith_J advises against wvo for what sound like good reasons to me.
The way he explained it to me was that cooked vegetable oil acts just like boiled linseed oil. Hardens into a nice protective coating when it dries out.
Great for wood. Not so great for engines.
