When weird stuff happens, check the grounds. Maybe make a ground harness from every ground wire to the battery, because the aluminum body might not have good conductivity through the body and rivets joining the body panels together.
The Radiator is between 20% and 25% larger in size than the original type. I think the engine oil and trans coolers are larger as well as having the power steering cooler in the one piece cooler instead of as an add or or non existant as in the early Humvees.
Mine is stamped in a half baked way. Only the top half of the numbers are inprinted. I really don't think they put too much effort into these numbers and a couple of coats or Carc will make them dissapear really quickly. I just went down to the garage to look at them and the person who stamped...
The number that I think Clarke is refering to is the tub number. Mine is stamped on the cross beam just ahead of the drivers windshield. This area would be covered when the hood is closed. Mine is a five digit number.
There is no ID number stamped into a Humvee frame. The only numbers would be on the data plate that's riveted to the drivers side of the B Pillar. It would be seen if the door were opened. There is a body tub number stamped into the tub, but it is not a serial or ID number in the normal sense.
The early HMMWV Halfshafts are the weakest. They upgraded them fairly early on. Early enough so that when the Hummers came out in '92 the upgrade type is what was used on them. They are a direct bolt in for the early HMMWV halfshafts. Rear Medium length both sides. Left Front short and Right...
I have a couple of sets of the mil tire chains for the radial Humvee tires. Call a place that sells tire chains and give them the tire size and that should be all you have to do. Make shure to ask for chains and not cables and to ask at a place that caters to trucks and not just cars for city folks.
That agency that tried to sell the complete Humvees should have known about having to return them or trade them to another properly accredited agency after their use. They also can use them for parts and just give back the carcas of the body tub. That is the part with the serial number. Actually...
I see what you are talking about, but it dosen't make sense for the DRMO to go calling anyne who might need what they have. They should have a list and any needy entity can search for it. Maybe these units got tired of getting mislabled things or things that were broken or diden't have the MWO's...
The two stacked trailers are held in place with chains and binders with ratchet straps for added safety. The top trailer was loaded about five inches forward on the lower trailer so there was no tail heavy problem. I wrapped the chains where they were going to rub on the lower trailer's tailgate...
These trailers would have been put into the DRMO System before GL Got their hands on them so those units need to use their system. Maybe they are so used to getting new stuff that they forgot about the DRMO?
I recently picked up some trailers from GL. They turned out to be unused and were replaced with new production of the same model. They are M1102's made by Silver Eagle. Very nice trailers. They are really made to pull behind a Humvee, but anything with a Pintle hitch will pull them. The body is...
When you put the Transfer Case lever into High Lock, you are in the high gear of the Transfer Case and have locked the differential that is in the Transfer case. That means there is no slippage between the driveshaft that goes to the rear and the driveshaft that goes to the front. This is not to...
I've broken out the glass plunger and spring on a couple of trucks and I noticed no difference in either idle quality, idle rpm or drivability as compared to a truck that had a properly operating plunger.
It's just bad timing. I'm heading off to a family gathering after the guy picks up the vehicles so there is no way that I'm messing with a junk car. Two weeks earlier would have been easy, but it's too late now. I might have had one pulled off, but they never break so I thought why should I...
I have the exact right dipsticks and tubes on two M1009 Blazers that are going to be hauled off to the scrapper tomorrow. Sorry but I can't pull the parts for you. I just don't want to get dirty. You should try and find these parts at some place that specialises in New Old Stock parts for...
It shoulden't be bottomed in its hole so if you have a really sharp and small chisel, you should be ablt to tap it in the correct direction and work it out far enough to grab it witn a pliers or your fingers. A small hammer like the type that carpet layers use would allow you to control things a...
So you want to do the old pull the spark plug wire and if the engine dosne't run any worse, that one is probably good trick, but with a diesel. It may work, but don't get shot with any high pressure fuel. I bought a CUCV that had a horrible ticking. I thought that it had to be a bad injector for...
I just noticed that you are in Victorville. You can check with Walker Auto and Truck Parts in Hesperia. If Dave dosen't have a new tube, he'll have one on a take out engine.
