My Doctor told me to get some exercise. Well....I am getting exercise,
You see I work hard on my truck and driving it long distance is far more work than driving any other vehicle I have owned, except another deuce.
I see any and all costs of ownership as being vital for my health, mental...
I bought mine sight unseen, from GL. I made sure the price I paid was equal to the scrap value. I figured if it was a basket case, I could get my money back for the steel.
I made out good. Others I know have done inspections and checked things out and have been burned because of things...
You are on the right track. Off roading is tough on the running gear, but should be fairly easy on the engine. My logic is that the engine works very hard at highway speeds hauling the weight of the truck with maximum resistance. Off road, you use spurts of power surrounded by idling and...
The biggest risk is to the vehicles that are providing the jump to the military 24 volt vehicle.
If you think about it, the number one vehicle providing the jump is powering one battery but appears at the opposite polarity to the other vehicle. In essence, the positive of the first battery...
You can make your deuce more secure with a battery cut off switch. These are used on lots of Industrial equipment and you can install one near the batteries in the floor of the pasenger seat and remove any possibility of anyone starting your truck.
Jatonka has them, and I know you can get...
You can jump start the truck with two vehicles. Make sure the "booster" vehicles are apart a bit. Connect one to one battery, using the normal positive to positive and negative to negative. Then connect the second vehicle to the second battery, the same way.
DO NOT TOUCH THE TWO TRUCKS OR THE...
I have a 3/4 ton 4x4 1991 Chevy Suburban and it is the old style body. I love the truck and prefer it to my newer suburban. The emission system is simple. If you find one with a diesel engine you would find the extra cost of acquisition worth it for the extra fuel economy. My Suburban is gas and...
When you you have a leak that is of concern, why, or what reason would you say this?
The air compressor is lubed by the engine lube system. If there is a leak, you need to identify what is leaking.
A leak either needs to be fixed, or it is incidental to the system.
As to supplies to...
As I type, it is early evening EDST and the site has slowed to a crawl and has had many multiple minutes to load some pages. I expect bandwidth is the issue and bandwidth costs money.
It also takes time to program and set up additional servers.
I appeciate greatly the work of the moderators in...
One of our great members, CARNAC, is capable of finding out the information about your truck.
Here is the link:

If you provide what he asks for he generally can give you more details about your truck's history.

The rubber hose is used only if you are bleeding your brakes alone. You need to keep the bleeder from pulling air back in when you release the pedal and let it up. It actually is a neater job to use some sort of container to collect the fluid that comes out when you bleed the brakes and makes...
Your best bet is to bleed the system. If you have a helper, you start with a full master, and bleed the airpack. Once you have a steady flow of fluid;
you refill the master and then go to the rear of the truck and
bleed the Right rear;
Refill the master;
bleed the left rear;
refill the master...
I would agree with the bonding thing with your dad. I also think if you figure out how to keep it, and it is not parked in the yard which is obviously out in your parent's minds, you will demonstrate an increased level of maturity and responsibility that I am sure your parents will find...
I remember Chemistry class and creating hydrogen gas in a lab session.
The stuff is quite volatile and more dangerous than any other gaseous materials we may encounter.
Glad you are well, and I hope everyone is extra careful around batteries.

It is hard to say. To be honest, unless you know the master is releasing, you do not know which is at fault. The other factor is that as the brake system and the entire truck heats up, things expand, and I am not so sure Dot 5 doesn't expand as well. If you are not releasing in the master...
PaPaBear your truck looks great!!!!!
JT has promised to get lots of pictures of all the trucks while he is there.
Have a safe trip and you guys make us all proud!!!!!

The battery was off gassing Hydrogen and all that is needed was a spark, a bit of static, to ignite. I am glad you are well. I would rinse the entire underhood area very thoroughly to remove all traces of acid as it will work on the paint and metal with very negative results.
That the battery...
Kaiser Jeeps; I suspect your master cylinder is at fault and not your airpack. There is a tiny "vent hole" ahead of the piston that can get clogged up with rust and debris and not allow the brakes to release fully when you are going down the road. I would check this as follows:
Open the...
The seals are readily available through several parts suppliers for the deuce and they are not that expensive. My guess on your bearings is that the truck sat after fording for a long time and the bearings were moist when parked. I would find it hard to believe the bearings are pitted, simply...
the answer is sublime not obvious
You want a deuce, get one. That is easy and the obvious answer and you do not need to sell anyone else on the idea. Here is where the less obvious solutions arise.
Women, in general, love attention. Face it, they just do love to be paid attention to. That is...
