any body ever bob a m211

I'd rather somebody bob an M211 than let it rot and be sold for scrap.

They are 28V landing lights as used on a 737, etc.

    8" headlight or spotlight housing

About 44 amps for the pair. The surge current for one light blew the diodes in my 30A 12V supply.:-D

    8" headlight or spotlight housing

Anybody know a source for 8 inch headlight/ spotlight housings? I bought a pair of Q4559 600W aircraft landing bulbs cheap on ebay and would like to put them on my deuce. Identical to a regular 7 inch sealed beam headlight just one inch larger and ten times the output.

    best heater for the deuce

I have a large heater under the passenger side seat and a fairly small Red dot heater under the dash for defrost purposes. Works great and is out of the way.

I guess that I'll be buying a hydrometer to verify the battery condition. Thanks.

    Batteries and alternators

I just want to preface this by saying that I did do a search before posting. :-D I had the misfortune of a dead battery in my bobbed deuce over the holidays. One battery was OK, the other was dead. They are about 4 years old. I managed to get it to take a charge. After getting the truck...

    Keys?

I don't know why keys would be a touchy subject. I installed a key switch from NAPA. Make sure that you get one that doesn't use universal keys.

    Deuce cold weather starting problem!!!!!

I can't imagine an issue requiring the batteries to be disconnected when using one 12V charger. The thing to be careful of when using two 12v battery chargers is to ensure that the they are electrically isolated. In other words, neither the + or - 12V terminals of the charger is tied to the...

    Re- babbitting a barring.

I've got a manual for the 1150 cubic inch Waukesha WAKD diesel engine and they did some interesting things to get it started in very cold weather: The manual stated that 30W oil at -30F (quite a combination!), may require more than three times the torque than the engine is available to develop...

Coverting an OA331 starter from 24v to 12v

To add to what Barrman stated, the 24V starter is compound wound whereas 12V starters are series-wound and will develop more cranking speed. I second having a reputable starter shop modify your starter. I also have a hunch that this is an SAE-style starter and your starter shop may also be...

    welding replacement panels

I replaced a section of firewall in my M35 last summer. I used a magnet to hold it in place while I tack welded the patch panel. I used 0.023 wire but I am told that there is a better wire with a powder metal core. Anyone else tried it?

What causes Headlights to go out?

Wire or connection resistance will not have the effect of burning out the filaments; it will at worst cause a dim bulb.

What causes Headlights to go out?

Anyone think abut adding an inrush current limiter. I have used them on vacuum tube filaments with good success. Bulbs almost always blow at startup due to the quick temperature change.

    M-211 change over

I had an M135 with a 302 and a five speed from a CCKW. The fairly low first gear kinda negated the need for a two speed transfer case, in my opinion. Another option is to get a two speed transfer case from a CCKW.

Multifuel Engine life - the facts from Uncle Sam

No, I understand what you are saying. However, I don't think that the Cummins was designed for high speed, either. It was first a tractor engine. Objectively, I just don't think that the multi was ever a very good engine.
