I just swapped one into my 1028 in the last month. The items that need to be changed; torque converter, governor, flex plate, can all be done without opening up the trans. If you need to change or add lockup, that is just a pan drop. I didn't need to change anything with my crossmember or drive...
I just finished this swap in my 1028. It's awesome and I love it, I don't know what it would be like in an '09 with its 3.08 gearing. The 700r4's lower first gear would probably be nice, but I've heard some people complain about the overdrive and the '09's tall gears. At 65 in overdrive you'd be...
Yes, it's a good price. My local u-pull-it charges $150 for a transmission and you still have to go get it out of the vehicle. If you can, get a "K" case. It will be stamped with a big K on the side. Make sure you're getting one from a V8, not a V6. If it's coming from a gasser you need to...
The only difficult thing to acquire when I did this swap was the bracket for the TV cable. Everything else can be easily found at a junkyard, parts store, or just ordered online. If you've got the bracket then you're all set.
I pulled an adapter out of a Blazer with a 700r4/208 from the junkyard. I didn't measure it, but I would say the adapters are roughly the same width. I would think that if the adapter were much thicker, then the output shaft from the 700r4 would need to be longer to cover that distance or it...
The converter is either 1600 or 1700, I don't remember off the top of my head. It does have a diesel governor, heavy duty clutches and I did a shift kit when rebuilding. Hopefully it's just the TV cable. I had it wrong to begin with and while it feels better now, it's probably still wrong. More...
Well, I finally got it all wrapped up today and took it on a test drive. TV cable wasn't quite set right at first and 1-2 shift was happening way late. I adjusted the cable and now it feels more normal, shifting around 1500rpm. Overdrive rocks! Man it's nice to cruise on the highway and not go...
I'm missing one bolt connecting my transmission to engine that I would like to replace. The parts manual list it as part # MS90728-63, I tried putting that in on Naps's web site but nothing came up. I could remove one of the others and size it, but I figured it might be easier if someone...
