I prefer the midpoint for the antenna brackets. That way the antennas sweep back, plus its right where the radios are on the inside. I run the cord between the rubber seals.
Just attended an event in San Pedro, Ca at the WW11 Fort MacArthur. This was a reinactement but our local club usuallly attends and displays their vehicles. Great event since its right on the coast and is relaxing and laid back time.
that looks just like my Herculiner. Same pebbly look. Didn't spray mine on, just rolled it. I think whatever kind we use, it will be a vast improvement to painting. Great job!
I have a '86 M1009 and I'm having trouble turning the ignition switch after inserting the key. It will take me up to 5 min to get the thing to turn. Once I get to the first position that unlocks the steering wheel its OK. To make matters worse I have a disability in my right hand so I have to...
I'd like to try some different colors of Gillespie paint but would like to see the actual colors. I e-mailed Rapco but have'nt heard back. Any source out there for color chips?
Well, got the project mostly done. Still would like to change the shocks and steering stabilizer, get a steering wheel cover and seat covers but that stuff will have to wait for some more funds.
I did my own truck and I am not that all experienced in painting. I did wear a good resperator and a painting overall. I just used a vibrating disk sander to take of the outer loose surface of the CARC, taped it off and used a Harbor Freight gun and...
Well I did paint it, actually before the "don't do it" posts so too late now. I have not noticed any difference in satellite reception. As soon as I turn on the receiver, I get 7 or 8 full bars so the paint doesn't seem to make much difference. Now the heat factor may come into play down the...
I put a temp gauge on my 1008 but thats been at least 10 yrs ago, can't remember what I used fo rthe output point. Now I got a 1009 and would like to do the same as I have a complete gauge kit. Where would the best place to put the sensor? Would I have to remove an existing sensor?
Installing a GPS in my M1009 and want to add a GPS marine antenna. Its a mag mount and looks pretty good on top of the cab. Problem is its white and I'd like it to match the green truck. I was planning on using the Rapco stuff or a water based latex. Have heard of problems when you paint...
Just paintred my M1009 with Gillespie 383 green and flat black and was retouching up a few spots. I washed off the hood to clean it up first and got some water spots that I couldn't remove. Ended up painting over them.
Question is how long should you wait to wash the vehicle after your paint?
WA6JIA Just got my license a few months ago after a lot of prodding from a good friend. After I got it, I applied for my dad's old call sign and got it.
