If your not a purist on equipment, I would just make one. Before I got mine I was contemplating getting some angle iron and fabricating one up. If I hadn't gotten a good deal on one, that probably what I would have done. Used to have a M43 amulance that I turned into a radio truck and I built...
I just got a M1009 and that was one if the first things I did. Saying that I have had a M1008 for at least 15 years now and and had never changed the relay. However I have had to replace the starter. I plan on doing the relay change soon.
I have an Allis Chalmers generator with a 4 cyl diesel engine. Looking at it, it would be more adaptable to something like a M151 which I think would be pretty cool.
I just painted my M1009. The base coat of 383 green turned out great. When I put the flat black camo on it looks like s**t. Very uneven and partly shiny. This is with the Gillespie flat with a spray gun. Then tried to even it with the rattle cans, still crappy. Now the wind came up so I'll have...
We're in Calif, we can't get anything. I was looking for thinner for my gal of Gillespie green and couldn't find any Xylene just some stuff marked as a substitute.
I think for the most part they were used as troop carriers. Probably an equivalent of our M35 trucks. And yes there a blast to drive although not on Calif freeways. Top speed is around 55 for my 404 and that is screamin'. Off-road is where they shine. Truly a go anywhere vehicle.
Yes, its just the plastic mount that broke. Maybe I'm blind but I checked the tailgate section of LMC and don't see that particular part. If someone can find it please give me the part number.
Well, when I got my M1009, it had no tailgate glass, so while waiting to get some I was clearing up all the broken pebbles of glass, etc. I was checking the operation of the hand crank and somehow broke this piece. Looks like a bar lock to prevent the tailgate from opening until the window is...
I really like this for for the vast amount of info. But in this case I'm getting an overload. I've been reading up on all the glow plug posts and it seems like there's two different camps on this issue. One side has the Wellmans as the best because their original issue and if 1 or 3 go back the...
A friend recommended these glow plugs to me. Although he has a civi 6.5, says they work great. Anybody familar with them? SS Diesel supply.

I like the idea of having a rhino type covering but this particular brand, Herculiner, is very rough finish, And while it is tough it's hard to keep clean because of the finish. Hard to sweep out.
Glad that worked out for ya. Tried that once here in Cali and really came close to going postal on the DMV. Plus the fact that our local DMV office has to be the worst in Calif. We did get the vehicles registered but had to go to a title company.
For anyboby that has collision, comp on their CUCV, I'm wondering what kinda value they would give if the vehicle was totaled or stolen? Not sure what bluebook value is, but if I had to replace my M1009 it would cost me at least $3000. Knowing insurance companies, they would never give me that...
