Saw one at an airshow a while ago, the nosegear and pilot seat are built offset the main cannon.
It can hit targets with infared in the dead of night with zero visibility, a strong headwind and a green pilot. I guess they are also quite simplistic and easy to handle. It's like a military...
I bought a gasket kit for the new trans from E-bay for 15 bucks. I used RTV for the seal between the trans bell housing and the engine bell housing. It's not completely nessacary but it's a good Idea if your going to be doing any fording.
I documented the replacement in this thread. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/60303-yet-another-transmission-replacement-thread.html
It includes the proceedure I used (yes by myself...solo) all the problems I ran into, my photos and input from other users. Check it out, let me know what you...
No not really, the 3053A was a good used take-off. A little bit more of a grind coming into and out of fourth, also it's probably my imagination but first seems a little higher now.
Plus the 3053A was a few years newer.
Not an expert, I'm sure the others will chime in. I think all the 3053...
Lockers: A typical limited slip differential will transfer power to usually only one wheel at a time (whichever has the least ammount of traction) it also eliminates wheel hop by allowing the wheels to turn at different speeds around sharp turns. A LOCKER mechanically locks the diff so an equal...

Thanks, another thing: my fuel pump whines sometimes, I hadn't thought of it before because it's never caused this problem. I was just outside checking it with the bleeder open. Fuel just dribbles out while it's whineing, but a light tap on top of the pump with a mallot and the whine stops and...
Still happening
Disregard :-x started doing it again today. Thought everything was fine and dandy after I put the cover on. I am going to start by replacing my fuel filters. (they should probably be done anyway) Next I am going to check all of my fuel line fittings all the way back to the tank...
I don't own and never have owned a CUCV, but my first vehicle ever was a 1986 GMC Sierra 2wd. Same body style, cab and concept but non diesel. I spent hours crawling all around, inside and underneath it, it was easy to understand the basics even for my 13 year old self . The best way to...
Always great Deuce Uses, "What cant you use them for?" seems to be the general consensus.
Last night I used mine to extricate a truck from a snow covered embankment. Ended up being too much for a couple of shear pins, but I was able to get it out. Gotta love a job where they pay you by filling...
The bottom one is the shaft between the transmission and the t-case, missing a yoke and u joint though. Im guessing one or both are still attatched to the truck. ;-)
