Gotta ask...what in the world did you put in your truck or what did you put the poor thing through that caused it to break a 10 leaf spring pack with a spring helper????
Im pretty sure that building a single exhaust on one of these trucks would involve crossing one pipe under the trans pan makeing a fluid and filter change extremely difficult. If it wasn't for that part then running two regular size pipes into one great big pipe would work great seeing as how...
You could try the Duplicolor acrylic enamel in flat black from pep boys. I've painted other things on my truck with it and it doesn't seem to have a reflective finish under moonlight. It is also a pretty durable paint for somthing in a spray can. Now if only someone made an acceptable...
I notice you have put sealant around the manifold and that intake. Have you cut a hole in the fender to use that as a snorkle as well? Also gotta admit that things probly neater than my homemade ram-air intake.
Yeah I got the welds to take. The biggest issue that I had was getting the temp low enough. There was some trial and error with that. I burned right through some scrap pieces of that stuff that I used to practice with. I wound up having to set my millermatic 211 to the lowest setting in order...
Ok I took you guys advise and ground off the chrome plating and gave it a shot. It turned out great just had to get the welder set to the right temp. Also the feet that I welded on to it have bolt holes in them so I can unbolt the cage to change bulbs as you can see from the pics. I plan to fix...
Hello Im pretty new to welding and wanted to ask a question about what i want to do rather than just try it and make a mess or something. I have a yellow rotator beacon on my truck and want to build a beacon cage for it. I found some old cage material around the house and cut it up and bent it...
Hey hovenga67. I like the chrome rims you have on there. You just don't see alota cucv's with new shiny things on them. It kinda freshens the old truck up and brings it into the current era. Those rims, tires, and lift make it look very detailed and crisp. Based on the turbo part I'm guessing it...
Hey CycleJay the ram-air pipe goes to a 4" hole in the radiator core support. For some reason they tac weld a piece of metal over it on the cucvs. Anyhow if you type " my cucv ram-air project " into the search function on this site it will take you to my mini write up about it and the pics...
Wow that rhino-liner must render the inside nearly sound proof with an AC and stereo. Your m1009 is probly nicer to ride in than most civi trucks or even cars lol. Plus I guess you can just drive it straight through the brush and not have to worry about getting a bunch of scratches in the paint...
I've thought alot about doing the exact same swap on my m1028. One thing that I am worried about is the fact that the 12v cummins is such a low rpm motor. How fast do you think it will go with the 4.56 gears plus the NV4500s overdrive? I noticed that most cummins equiped trucks are geared really...
Wow gotta say that thing looks good!!! Noticed you used a rubber coupling over the air cleaner housing inlet and some ducting hose. Looks like epoxy on the outside of the finder. Is there something supporting it from underneath the hood as well? The paint job looks real good on that too. What...
Does the air cleaner housing fit together correctly without the filter element in it? If it still has that gap in it with no filter element in it then it's probly been steped on or something.
After my stock filter base went bad I put a RACOR490 on mine. It has a 24 volt heating element, clear sight gauge with a drain at the bottom for watter, and best of all it has a priming botton at the top of the base along with an air bleed hole. I am useing it by it's self with a 10 micron...
That was the coolest thing I've ever seen as well!!! I used to drive articulated haulers/off road dump trucks such as volvo and caterpillars. That thing is really really similar. I noticed that it didn't say you could tip the bed section of the truck all the way over on it's side with the cab...
Thanks for the positive feedback everyone and yep those are 34x10.50x16 super swamper LTBs at stock suspension height with no fender trimming. The added weight of the bumper doesn't make them rub either, even off road. I really like the LTBs. They fit the CUCVs perfectly and look like something...
Somebody on here PMed me and asked about the bumper and grill guard on my m1028 and I agreed to put up some pics and a small write up about it. Here are a few pics of it when I first brought it back to my house before I sanded and painted it as well as a couple of it on the truck. The bumper...
