M1010 Fully Self Contained, Long Range Expedition Vehicle

Love it. I was planning on using folding boat steps like you did, how were those secured? Did you weld a back panel on the back then cut a hole and mount a door or ???

    Rivet Nuts or Riv-Nuts

You have jacknuts that do pretty much the same thing, without specialty hardware..

I like to dive head first into ownership, how about you?

Buy some Group 31s from Costco, or from Interstate... They're both made by Johnson Controls and are excellent batteries.

12 volt CUCV headlights keep blowing

Does OP realize that the ONLY thing that gets 24V is the starter and glow plugs, and everything else gets 12v? I'm thinking he put the 12V feed on the + of the second battery and is now pushing 24V through his 12V system.

    M1010 Lower Radiator Hose

Just a heads up! I made this mistake. Bought the Gates hose and about 10 miles later blew it out. I didn't notice interference when I installed it, but it flexed in use and... *pop* My fix. I cut about 3" off the radiator end on the hose, then secured it to the radiator.. This required...

East coast to West coast trip - Free part taxi - standby assistance requested

Rough numbers so far.... Pretty telling... Avg a little over 5 MPG for the M934.. I'm betting having a flatbed instead of the cross dimension of a 2 story brick would help fuel consumption.

East coast to West coast trip - Free part taxi - standby assistance requested

Bring 'Soldier B'... heh. a cushion or 5 for the seat needs to go on the list.. I would also get a cheap 5 gallon air tank, and fill it before your trip. If your truck is not running, you have no air. If you have a leak, you have no air, etc. Shoot me your number via PM and I'll give you a...

East coast to West coast trip - Free part taxi - standby assistance requested

Definitely... And thanks again for the help.. It was a learning experience for sure, and as such, plans come out of it to make sure future occurrences are eliminated or reduced. Not much went wrong, but spare parts should be carried.. I brought belts, and nothing air related... That...

East coast to West coast trip - Free part taxi - standby assistance requested

My concern is the lines blowing out... Rather.. One line blowing out twice... If one will, others will. The lines were sitting for at least 7 years and plastic gets brittle over time...

East coast to West coast trip - Free part taxi - standby assistance requested

I'm not much for rules and regulations. Safety is more important to me than the 'right' way. If it's safe, do it. No warrant, no inspection. Wanna crawl under the truck? Don't complain if you get run over.. All I know is I had 3 air related failures... And I want eliminate future...

Fuel filter supply line thread size..Cummins 250

So the supply to the filter assembly (not the tank) 1/2 inch compression? But if I'm changing it out... Might as well replace the supply from tank as well... Line is cheap. I'll get a comprehensive parts list together and post it to help others in the future, as soon as I get this done.

Fuel filter supply line thread size..Cummins 250

I've gone over what seems like 500 threads on fuel filter spin on mods... A bunch of people selling stuff... But no real data. M934, nhc250... I need to know the thread size of the supply (input) line into the filter housing as well as the input to the IP. Any help would be appreciated...

Also.. The warning buzzer can't be heard with good ear protection on. It will be replaced with a 120db warble alert.... With a cutout switch so I don't have to hear it once the problem has been identified.

East coast to West coast trip - Free part taxi - standby assistance requested

I gotta change all the fluids (again) I'm going to replace both fuel and oil filters with spin on I'm gonna replace the air lines with synthetic rubber and standardize the dimensions. Each line will be on a barbed connector with hose clamp so replacement will be easy if necessary. I'm going to...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

The idea of camo is to break up straight lines, since the don't exist in nature.. I find that overspray gives the edges a spotted pattern which further blurs the line... I'll have to find my pics

Back home. Lots of work to do. Will update with pics when I get a chance. All failures were air related.. Even the tire, technically.. Hah

Middle of SD now... 50ish... Around 2000rpm... Actually getting closer to 6 mpg than 5... Thanks to flat land.. Some hills in PA and WV I was going 25 mph up.... And couldn't go faster... I predict some more of the same in MT... Biggest issue is the seat. Spring sucks. Shock is...
